Hi everyone, Not my usual kind of thread is this and I'm not getting into any of the details but having read it all, I'll just say that personally, I do like this photoshoot and I think only good can come of it. Cheers, Dave

OK, forget "dishonest". I always think that the job of a portrait photographer is to try to capture the character of an individual on film. We have photographers like Grant, Steve and Karsten here who are very good at doing that with Hayley. It is the use of Hayley's image as a way to express the photographer's artistry and ideas rather than the subject's character that I'm not keen on.
However, if it helps Hayley....

Hi Martin OK, forget "https://i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifishonest". I always think that the job of a portrait photographer is to try to capture the character of an individual on film. It's not as clear cut as that. Simply put, yes, you're right, but if that's all it was, portrait photographers wouldn't have much of a job. You mention what we do with Hayley BUT what we see is only that part of Hayley's character that surfaces when she is in the public eye, or, to a certain extent, when she lets her hair down a little bit with her closest fans when the public have left. Hayley will, characteristically, be quite different when she is chilling with friends; when she is alone with family ; or when she is feeling a bit down. The art of a photographer is the ability to recreate those characteristics in a studio or photoshoot location. You suggest that Rob Harper used Hayley's image to express his artistry but, as I said before, we haven't been told the purpose of that photoshoot. As Hayley has recently talked about "experimenting in the studio" Rob's photo's may simply be taking a similar approach with Hayley's image. Best wishes Grant

Best wishes Grant A very interesting post Grant and I believe your assessment to be completely correct. Those of us privileged to interact with her most frequently need to remember we are just that, close fans, social friendship is a different animal although I suspect many of us have a pretty clear idea of what she is probably like when she is really relaxed, switched out and not worrying about cameras. Completely agree with Grant & Peter.
The Hayley fans get to see is 'Professional Hayley', not 'Private Hayley'. Meeting fans is part of her job and I don't doubt she is on best behaviour (As any of us would be) because she wants and needs to make a positive impression.
But even the greatest fans do not truly KNOW any artist. She will have sides of her personality that only come out when she is with family or close friends.
The Hayley in these pictures may be a true reflection of some part of her personality we do not normally see. Or they may not. I doubt anyone here could say for absolutely sure.

Looked through the MNA website gallery, and they had some larger, un-watermarked versions of a few of the pictures: Good for a signature: Probably my favorite: Just plain cool: Also, a few ever-so-slightly higher res pictures. It's barely noticible, but I thought they should be posted before they disappeared: Well, this certainly looks familiar... Can't quite place where I've seen it before, though... Also, I looked back at the beginning of the thread - quite the little debate these pictures stirred up! Funny how we can fret over the smallest little things sometimes. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
