Hey there, Just found a very interesting article about Hayley in "The Times". I hope it hasn't been posted yet. If so, I'm really sorry about it! And I'm new by the way *waves to everyone* ! I really love this site. What does Hayley mean by that? People of Hayley's age tend to be binge drinking yobo's!

Not to read into it too much, I think she means that in her off time, she likes to do things that other 19 year old girls like to do, like go shopping, hang out with friends, talk about boys, frequent a local coffee shack, that sort of thing. Yes, there are quite a few booze-bags out there her age, but there are also a lot of 19 year olds that realize that there is more to life than getting wasted. I am sure she is a member of the latter group. No worries Jon S, Hayley still is a angel i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRuss

I'm 20 and only 7 months older than Hayley, and in my free time I love going to the cinema, theatre or simply visiting friends and going shopping (another hobby is to listen to Hayley's music but I doubt she does that herself). She has an extemely different life for someone of our age, and I bet she just enjoys doing normal things from time to time.

She just says things that make no sense like 'I'm not perfect' and I can't find anything that makes her non-perfect. I worry too much.

Hey, I just read this.. She confesses to be a runner just like I thought... awesome. Pop music doesn't touch my soul... thats very meaningful... Fried food! Get off your high horse Hayley and join us Americans wallowing in our grease i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Seriously though we have good food here - just have to stay away from the chains Either that or hang around someone that can really cook!

Hayley has mentioned that those are the things she likes to do, and I know she doesn't drink or anything. She just says things that make no sense like 'I'm not perfect' and I can't find anything that makes her non-perfect. I worry too much. Hi Jon, If I were in Hayley's place I would sometimes think the way people behave towards me would be a bit strange. There is no way that Hayley is perfect and she knows that all to well (I'm sure her family knows that too ). She is just like us, going through life experiencing what it means and using her gifts. I wonder if in some respects she is a spectator to it all like the rest of us, even though she is at the center of all these web sites and concerts and news articles. Its got to be a strange place to be in! I wouldn't want to be there... I'd much rather be a fan than a fanee (did I just invent a new word?!). Being a fanee would be too heavy a load for this fan (hypothetically speaking) in terms of losing anonymity, and freedom to have personal relationships where there is no question a person wants to know you for you, and not for their image of you. Being a fan is also much easier as I can simply enjoy the music instead of going through all the hours and hours and sweat in trying to make it While getting on with my own life and gifts.

Don't worry Pete, I think people know that its best to ignore some of the things I say. Basically Hayley is my idea of perfect.

I must admit that this is one of the very few things Hayley has said (if she was quoted accurately) that got me a bit miffed. Here in LA we have more health food stores and organic products than we have plastic surgeons, contrary to popular opinion. And I can't remember the last time I saw a fried vegetable, unless you count potatoes. I know Hayley feels she is already surrounded by enough "people," but someone get her a new culinary consultant quick. In fact, I volunteer.

I know Hayley feels she is already surrounded by enough "people," but someone get her a new culinary consultant quick. In fact, I volunteer. When I read that myself I just rolled my eyes... I know Hayley is way smarter than that... If you want me to get crass - she frankly might be thinking about the tendency of so many to be overweight here, and then connecting that to the food choices so many folks choose here. Thats completely speculation on my part though. Not having visited NZ, I don't know if overall NZ folks are alot thinner due to better food choices/exercise or what... but that is likely what she meant IMHO (but it wouldn't be nice to say it - but hey I don't have to be like that - I'm only a fan ). If that is what she meant then I have to agree... When I came back to the US after living as a missionary kid overseas 18 years there were alot of things that just disgusted me frankly... so first impressions can be not so good! But I love this country now - imperfections and all... In fact I'm having pizza tonight i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif of course in proper moderation

I've come to the conclusion that you have to take some things Hayley says with a pinch of salt. Hayley might have been joking a little bit when she mentioned the fried food. Anyway, Hayley gives a lot of love and help to people and she is totally devoted to her fans, and that is perfect in my book. The fact that there are 16 songs including the bonus track on her album and not one do I skip, says something as well.

Hi Pete,
Fortunately Hayley seems to cope well with all the hard work, sometimes I wish she didn't do so many concerts, but she enjoys most of it.

It’s quite possible Hayley was having a little fun. It’s always difficult to know without seeing the body language. I actually thought this interview as a whole revealed a slightly more brazen Hayley than we are accustomed to seeing. For example, her final categorical statement about pop not touching her soul. I like the comment but it seemed a bit more final than what she has previously stated about wanting to keep all her options open.
That said, Hayley is maturing before our very eyes and has every right to her opinions. This is pretty minor stuff, and the magnificence that is Hayley Westenra could scarcely be diminished by any of it.
