I was expecting Whispers in a Dream. What other song from Paradiso fits? Otherwise she would've had to sing something completely different. And you know they got her on to promote the new album. And it is a spiritual song, after all.
She doesn't always "mime" on SOP. She was not doing so with Amazing Grace or Whispering Hope 3 years ago. Or in Silent Night just last year. She was with The Heart Worships, which is too bad, because it would've been nice to hear her sing it apart from the album recording. I don't think she ever has before.

Well, she mimed Abide With Me too in Rugby 4 years ago. And this was very similar. Hayley, alone in the church/cathedral, no musicians in sight but the exact same arrangement as on the record, except that part of it was cut out. It is always nice to see Hayley sing, and this was the unique bit. But the sound was straight off Paradiso I am sure. This being Songs of Praise, I had expected a hymn. That's what the programme is about. But as you say, Whispers is a spiritual song, and I'm glad that she was able to perform it there. I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed t as I did. Oh, for the next 7 days you can watch it at www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b013028v/Songs_of_Praise_Summer_in_Salisbury/I don't know how well this will work outside the UK. Hayley's contribution comes near the end, at 27 minutes in. Martin D

Hi Martin unfortunately this program is not available here in NZ.Did anyone record it at all? those who saw it was it worthwhile in comparison with other broadcasts?
No doubt about it,Hayley is getting a lot of airspace both on Radio and TV which is excellent.
cheers,
Rodders

I don't like the BBC player. It's prejudiced.

Dunno what you mean Libby, but some of us would certainly agree with you about the prejudice or "bias" as some prefer to call it. My usual recording software does not work with BBC iPlayer. I might be able to find something that does, but I'll wait and see whether Dave or anyone else recorded it first.

Hi everyone,
I was out for most of the afternoon and evening but did successfully record this, so I'll post it before my bedtime if I can stay awake (it's after midnight already!) otherwise later on Monday.
BBC iPlayer is forced to limit itself to the UK because BBC is funded by UK taxpayers and is having its effective funding cut anyway, so it can't afford to pay the extra licensing fees to copyright holders, to allow overseas reception. They are investigating an overseas version though, to be possibly funded by advertising (which I believe their website already has outside the UK). There is no advertising on the BBC within the UK.
Cheers, Dave

This is open source software that allows recording in mp4 format. It will delete recordings after 30 days. If there is anything you want to keep just transfer to another folder.I have a BBC TV licence so cannot see that it is any different from recording from live TV. I expect Dave will make some comment. Cheers Tony

Actually, I'm not sure we can post it anyway. Since she is miming, the soundtrack is (most of) the commercial recording of "Whispers" from Paradiso.
However, I found some software that will record it. The problem is it decided that my computer was too slow, and rexcorded it a 1 frame/sec with no sound. Useless!

If it's a TV broadcast, then it's definitely allowed. And not to mention the Whispers in the dream official video (with the Commercial recording) is available at the main site, and through HWI, so this wouldn't be a problem at all I think.

Hi Simba and everyone,
I have already uploaded this but the audio doesn't work after upload, which is weird as it works on the same file before upload (and I reuploaded it too!).
So there's no point in posting a link and I'll have to convert it again and reupload it again later this evening, too busy at the moment, sorry folks!
Cheers, Dave

Hi again everyone, Sorry about the delay, I had a bit of an audio nightmare with this video last night! But it's sorted now and available on the HWI website here: Hayley on Songs of PraiseWhispers starts at 20 seconds, I have left in a bit of the context at the beginning. Cheers, Dave
