Odd title for a thread? Perhaps...
We can all (and though i say "all", my views may not necessarily be that of everyone) agree that Hayley's songs are by far some of the most beautiful ever heard, and each of us have our favorite, or favorites.
But, perhaps I'm the only one, is there a particular song of hers that is not only a favorite, but also one that has a deeper meaning to you? And before people think that I am out to oust people's personal business, nothing has to be shared, a song title is good enough, however, anyone who wants to share a back story as to why may feel free to do so.
As for me, i have many that mean so much to me, but the one that sticks out the most is "Dark Waltz". Its means so much to me because two and a half years ago i took my (now ex) girlfriend out on a date. We got dressed up and with my mp3 player in hand, as well as some candles, we went to the park where we danced in the gazebo under the moonlight with nothing else but the candles as a source of light. It was our first romantic date of our relationship. Now even though we didn't dance to "Dark Waltz", that song will always remind me of that very special night i shared with the woman i love.

Oh gosh, where do I start. A lot of Hayley's songs have personal memories, or meanings to me.
For example Hana, from HSJS1 always reminds me of the May day when I first met my wife Sue, both of us still hurting from previous failed relationships.
Then there are what I call the "dream" songs, which seem to refer to a very vivid dream I had one Christmastime, when I was saved from being dragged down into hell by the voice of an angel singing to me about the power of God's love. "Whispers in a dream", "Love came down at Christmas", even "Amazing Grace" remind me of that.
Oh, and in the dream, the angel had Hayley's voice (of course - what else would an angel sound like). And she promised to sing to me again...

Amazing Grace, Majesty, Songbird and Whispers in a Dream, (to name 4), mean so much to me

"Both Sides Now" is one of my most treasured Hayley songs because it's how I came to know her and her music. One cool November night, I was sitting out on the deck with a cup of hot, steaming tea, a book, and a blanket. I had just played "Endless Ocean," so I finally decided to look up Hayley on YouTube for the first time. The first video that appeared was the "Both Sides Now" video. I was captivated, and I realised how amazing and versatile this girl was with her music. Of course I immediately went to iTunes and bought the song, and discovered a treasure chest of Hayley's music. Still to this day, that song is my #1. Wow, it's amazing how much you can remember after three years! Hope that didn't take too long. -Best from Bama

No, compared to many of my posts, that didn't take long at all! I think I'll add to my original response, and say Never Saw Blue. The album that first got me hooked on Hayley was Odyssey. I couldn't stop listening to all the clips on her website, but that song in particular "Hayleywowed" me. It's such a beautiful song. I actually had her album Pure, and I liked her, but I couldn't say I was really that much of a fan until I looked her up again, and discovered Odyssey. Charlotte Church actually had a hand in turning me to Hayley. I was bored one day, and was thinking of singers I liked, and decided to look some of them up again, to see if any of them had anything new. Charlotte did, but I was not impressed with what I found. So, I moved on to Hayley, and I was very happy with what I heard. After listening to all the Odyssey clips, I immediately put in her Pure CD again, after not having played it for a while. I didn't buy the album right away, though, since I didn't have a credit card yet. I had to wait for my birthday.

Old thread, I know.... but Hayley's take on "Both Sides Now" is even better than Joni Mitchell's original ( in my opinion). Besides the obvious vocal beauty, Hayley sings this song with such conviction that it almost seems personal for her- as if she has learned the life lessons that the song talks about. It's a rare singer that can draw the listener into the song itself and create empathy.

Even more amazing that she could sing that song so convincingly aged only 17! And it is a song that as she says, she sings in so many slightly different ways. You are never quite sure what you are going to get. I remember her once saying she never sings that song the same way twice. I have heard her sing it many times, and it is always a delight.
