Cinema Paradiso live for the first time!! Wonderful! Whispers was amazing, too! She sang some high notes in some of those other songs, especially in the duet. It's always nice to know she can still do it.

Hello Dave! Thanks for uploading Hayley's songs to our website. I listened to the show as it was broadcast last night, and I particularly liked the way she sang "The Deadwood Stage". That was a cracker! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIncidentally, the show was presented by Ken Bruce, not Terry Wogan. Richard

That was an amazing performance from Hayley (Not that I expected anything less!) She has the perfect voice for that type of music- really light and also strong. I Loved the first two whip crack away was beautiful- I wonder if Hayley has ever considered doing any Doris Day on her albums- her voice suits it perfectly. The songs from Paradiso were so well done- Cinema was even stronger than the album version- Love it!!

That's an understatement, she has the perfect voice for all types of good music XD....she can sing "anything", she's the perfect singer XD. Oh and if anyone puts up all the Hayley songs in mediafire (in some format) or tell me how to download off the mediaplayer, I can make mp3 versions, with all the clapping and dialogue removed (like a complete song) If somebody is already on it, awesome!

Thanks to Martin D for his recoding, and thanks to Dave for recording and uploading the programme to the HWI website. And what a programme it was Hayley on her usual top form, every note clear and confident. 'The Deadwood Stage' was an absolute delight to listen to, and 'I Talk To The Trees' was a stunner. I'm sure Simba would join me in saying "yeehaaaw" i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes, Joe

YUS! YEEEEEHAAAAAAW XD Hayley rocks, HWI rocks...I'm so glad that I found this place too XD EDIT: After comparing Cinema Paradiso studio and live, I must say hayley's really improving on her Italian pronunciations by MUCH, from what I know of Italian...The live sounded very "VERY" good, all the 'R's are stressed upon, like Semp'rrr'e piu, which was not in the album version. So this is really amazing

Hi Mike and Simba, If you can't download Dave's recordings you can find mine on Mediafire. The easiest qway is to go to hayleyonline.net/ where you will see a news post from me on the home page with links to all of my recordings (5 in number). Martin D

Hayley did a good job on the Deadwood Stage; however the song was not right for her voice and the tempo was too slow. All the rest of the program was flawless. Not to say that Hayley's rendition was flawed , it just was not the type of song her voice is suited for. The song from Calamity Jane sung by Doris Day is on you tube. If you listen to that version you'll understand my comment. Larry

Sorry Larry, I actually prefer Hayley's version. Even though I understand your comment, Hayley interprets the song so much better. And dare I say the quality of her voice is better too
Perhaps it is taking it a bit slower that enables Hayley to use her interpretive skills so well.
I think on a first listen, if like me you are used to hearing Doris Day sing it, you perhaps don't appreciate what Hayley has done with this song. I've listened a few times now and for me that was an absolutely stunning performance by Hayley. The performance of the night without a doubt.
And I was surprised to find that her voice really does suit that song. It adds something that Doris Day, wonderful as she is, lacks.
DD had a huge hit with that song. Hayley will probably never sing it again. Although I wish she would.
In some ways Hayley reminds me of Tchaikovsky. He was a guy who had so many brilliant ideas that he seemed to throw them away with abandon as if he didn't have time to do anything with them because he had another briliant idea. Try his first piano concerto, one of the grandest themes in all of classical music is thrown away after a couple of minutes. Any other composer would have made it last an hour.
That leaves the BBC, Dave and I (and anybody else who recorded it) wih the finest rendition of Deadwood Stage ever - a real piece of history.

Martin D Hello Martinn I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree with your evaluation of the Deadwood Stage piece. Of course Hayley's voice is superior to Doris Day. However in order to critique this comparison you must understand how the song was designed in the movie to be sung. Doris played Calamity Jane , a rough frontier woman riding a stagecoach shooting at Indians. The movie was filmed in 1953. Doris sang it to comply with the setting not to showcase her vocal skills. I think you're comparing apples to oranges. So why not give Doris her due rather then saying that Hayley did it better. She didn't. Larry

Hi Martin D and Larry, I think you are comparing apples and oranges, and that doesn't really work! The circumstances of that wonderful Doris Day original that I remember so well from my youth, and of Hayley's 'live' performance last week, are completely different and it is in my opinion not very helpful to try and say which is "better". It's a great song and a classic like that will always be hard or impossible to beat, for those who are old enough to remember the original. But as with Vera Lynn's old song We'll Meet Again, Hayley did a great job with it and few if any modern day singers could do it as well. We should, I think, leave it at that. By the way, I absolutely love the music of Doris Day (and that wasn't/isn't her only talent!). A legend in her own lifetime. Cheers, Dave

I feel the need to elaborate further on my evaluation of Hayley's Deadwood Stage rendition. It is not possible to criticize Hayley. Had I not been so familiar with the original Doris Day film Calamity Jane I probably wouldn't have mentioned it. Perhaps if you're not an American you don't understand we have our icons as well as you folks. Well Doris was one of mine. As a teen ager I used to sit in my Dad's Packard and listen to her nightly. Secret Love was my favorite. So I have to admit she holds a special place in my memory. Having said that I think that Hayley would have been spectacular in some of the old American Musicals. Oklahoma comes to mind with her singing . O What A Beautiful Morning,.Or maybe some of the songs from Carousel or as you've probably heard already. West Side Story, and many others. Can't you just picture her running through the fields in , The Sound of Music,....Julie eat your heart out. So please don't anyone misconstrue my former post as a criticism.
Larry
