I hope someone records it! I would have to wake up at 5am tomorrow to watch it and I really don't think I have it in me! Hello Jillian, Well I will, among others I am sure! Wow, what an evening! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif A marvellous programme of the most popular Western movie themes and songs performed by the BBC Concert orchestra with Hayley and Tamu Matu* as solo artists. Well done Martin by the way, I wondered if anyone would go along there "just in case". A good example of "if you don't try, you don't get!" i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Do you remember what colors the dresses were? I didn't know Cinema Paradiso or The Mission were western movies? What colour dresses? Remember you are asking a man here! I think the second one was blue (quite short) with small red hearts. They both looked like designer addresses. Regarding the choice of two Paradiso songs then I can only think that it was in Hayley's contract that the programme had to include them. Although the compere for the evening did say that the film "The Mission" was a sort of modern day western! I would have taken a photo or two but photography was strictly forbidden and policed by King Kong who was merely yards away from me. Martin

Hi Jillian Yep, that's it! What a fantastic encyclopedic dress memory you have. Now if only I could remember the first dress. I vaguely recall it was in four quarters (like a patchwork). Best wishes Martin

Hi Martin! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Yay! I picked right! I was trying to guess what designer it would be if it was blue with red hearts (Moschino Cheap and Chic came to mind - very beautiful and chic, but ironically not cheap at all) and then I remembered the dress Hayley wore in New Zealand and Taiwan! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I love that blue and red dress - so pretty. It's one of my favourites of Hayley's dresses. Now the next one... 'four quarters (like a patchwork)' Now how can I decipher that from 'man fashion speak' into a dress description.... hmmm.... ha ha ha ha ha :rollin I think that must be a new one -- I can't recall from memory Hayley wearing a dress like that before. Cheers, Jillian

Hi Jillian It may have been large squares rather than four quarters. I can only count up to four! Martin

Well, it was an excellent show and I have recordings of all ofHayley's contributions. I haven't tried to listen to them yet, but if they are any good I will upload them and lin to them from here.
It was almost like "Friday Night is Chat Night" on Twitter, with several of our members exchanging comments. Hayley didn't join us, although I'm told she visted Twitter (but didn't tweet) five minutes before the start of the show.
Anyway. I need to get to wotk on those recordings....

Hello Martin D, I decided to go straight into each song in case listeners wish to play them more than once. Or many times! I did, however, leave in Terry Wogan's song descriptions, which he helpfully included after most of them - but it's good to have more than one version. Reminder: Hayley on Friday Night Is Music Night (256 kbps .mp3s) BBC Radio 2 iPlayer link for anyone who wishes to listen again to the whole 2 hour show is: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b012hm6d/Friday_Night_is_Music_Night_22_07_2011/I very much enjoyed the entire show and thought Hayley was on top form, well done to Hayley! Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
Couldn't agree more, I enjoyed the whole show not just Hayley's contributions. And if it wasn't for Hayley, I wouldn't have listened I'm sure.
Hearing Hayley sing songs like that is yet another proof that Hayley is the real deal. A proper singer who can make a good job of just about anything. Hayley as Doris Day - fabulous! As herself, well, we know all about that! Is there anything that she can't sing at least as well as anyone on the planet?
I love to hear her sing new songs, and we had a few tonight.
As you can tell, I'm already blown away and it isn't even Sunday yet.
Martin D
