So it came to be, I went looking for the Ennio Morricone thread. Maybe he was just bigger in my life and imagination than in the real world of charts success. I thought I was reasonably familiar with his music in the 70s and 80s, but didn't realise until I had the internet the sheer volume of his work. 315 albums and rising. (often with up to ten versions) 139 compilations 63 singles and EPs I wonder is there anyone with all of his records. Great information at DISCOGS.com with a player at the bottom of the page that brings you to YouTube if you have a few hours to while away.......

I have one from Venice that is very good. He conducts his own orchestra and Susanna Rigacci provides the vocals for "Once Upon a Time in the West", "A Fistful of Dynamite" and "The Ecstacy of Gold". Cheers Tony

That's the second alternative version of Once Upon a Time I've heard today. And I prefer the other one - Patricia Janeckova.

I find myself regularly going to YouTube to listen to music these days, I always end up listening to these guys, their interpretation of Morricone is just outstanding, the conductor and the whole orchestra seem to just love the Morricone compositions.
Keep an eye out for Tuva Semmingsen & Christine Nonbo Andersen the soprano Tuva is the whistler and vocalist.
The Conductor Sarah Hicks seems to be into it in a big way.
Then this one comes on and I miss Hayley so much, Marty Whelan wants to be carried out to this one. .
Once Upon a Time in America just makes me sad because there is no Hayley in it.

Gutted at the loss of the outstanding composer Ennio Morricone, his music changed the course of my life.

Sad to hear that Ennio Morricone has passed away, I just love his music. Hayley must feel blessed that she worked with him for so long on Paradiso, it must have been a great honour for her. RIP Ennio Morricone.
I have noticed that Views of Hayley's "Cinema Paradiso (Profumo Di Limone)" on Rhyddian, on our Youtube channel went up by 1,000% yesterday. Other 'Paradiso' songs too have increased views.
I would not be surprised to see Universal Music re-release Paradiso, or at least re-stock the online music sellers. I hope so.

Hayleysforum on Twitter will be posting songs from the album all week. I will see if I can post an HWI one or two, but of course not all the album songs have been performed live or on TV. Profumo di Limoni and La Califfa are probably the ones that pop into my head most when I recall this album. Despite the fact that my favorite songs from it are actually Amalia Por Amor, Malena, and Whispers in a Dream! Speaking of La Califfa, I have to say I really enjoy the choir's vocalise portion in Sarah Brightman's version of La Califfa. So ethereal. Of course Hayley's version brings back memories of hearing her perform it live in Madison. I hope they do something to re-boost Paradiso sales. Hayley probably needs it... or would this even benefit her anymore? I have no idea how record companies work. LOL

Mmmmm, La Califfa ...
I love this performance, and I should add that I recorded it myself at the Royal Albert Hall in London, at Classic FM Live way back in 2014. Perhaps the one and only video I ever did myself all the way from video camera to Youtube. Some other HWI members will also remember this occasion as we shared a box for the concert.

This is Mireille Mathieu with Ennio around 1974, the sound he has managed to get from the violins is wonderful.
