Hi all, It's a coincidence that Columbus Day (Oct. 10) is only a few days after the release of Paradiso here in the US. Columbus Day is very much an Italian-American day of celebrations. What a good way for the CD to be promoted! There is the parade in NYC on October 10...or media appearances... perhaps Hayley can sing 'Profumo di Limone'. Deep breaths Joe

That would be good... I've never even heard of a parade for Columbus Day. Is it really that popular? And yes, for the millionth time, she must have media appearances, otherwise, what is she coming here for?

So, the parade is televised over there? That would be good, if they really were to do that. And I wasn't trying to correct you on anything, regarding my "for the millionth time". I just meant I keep saying it over and over. And I'm a little impatient to find out what the US promotions will entail.

Just thinking of the many ways Hayley can appear in the US media give me goosebumps. And it will all pay off very soon..figure about 30 days i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

That would be a very good thing for her to be on then, but you'll have to record it for us! There may be a Columbus Day parade in Seattle, but if there is, it slips past my attention. The only thing significant I can associate with that holiday is special sales at stores.

I remembered reading here that Best Buy has had her albums before. So I checked their website, and they have lots of Hayley's albums, even the imports. They even have Paradiso, but it's the UK version because it says it's released Sept. 6th. It even says that store pickup will be available for this item soon. I wonder if they really will have the American version in the store. Unlike Borders (now closing, of course), they don't have a service telling you whether a specific store location has a specific item or not. That's why I'm so disappointed Borders' is closing, because that would've been so helpful. Barnes & Noble does not list Paradiso on their site yet. Actually, they sort of did not too long ago. They listed an album with Hayley and Ennio Morricone, but didn't have the title or an image. Now there's nothing. So now I'm worried that that means they won't have it at all, with the U.S. release just a month away! I'm hoping Best Buy does have her albums in stock, in the actual store, because it would be much easier for me to go there than to the Barnes & Noble in downtown Seattle. I will go there if I have to, though, but the fact that they don't list it on their site has me worried that none of the B & N stores will have it. If I were to call the stores before I go, would it be better to call the day before the release, or the day of? I was thinking the day of, just to be sure. Because if they didn't have it on the shelves yet, the clerks probably wouldn't have a clue.

Hi Libby,
If they value thier customers and want to say in business, they will make sure that you get a proper answer.
Has Borders now gone down the tubes completely? I know they pulled out of the UK a year or so back.
A pity, I used to like their place.

Hello Libby, After reading your post, I tried looking on BestBuy to see what albums they had of Hayley. And all their website could pull up was Pure, and I am assuming its the USA edition since Import was not written any where. I also tried BN, and they had nothing listed! Did I miss a special internet address or a certain keyword I should have typed in? Maybe its for only your area.... IDK. Alicia

I was in my local Best Buy yesterday, and they didn't have any of Hayley's CDs. Quite frankly, their classical section was pitiful. They only had one of Josh Groban's albums in stock, and he is perhaps the most popular artist who could be labeled 'classical crossover' here in America. I did not leave feeling confident that they would be stocking 'Paradiso' when it is released next month. More and more I'm beginning to think I will be purchasing mine from Amazon.

Hi, Frenchie. I don't know what the problem is for Best Buy, since I was able to find her albums quite easily by just searching for Hayley Westenra. The first result for me was Hayley Sings Japanese Songs 1, with Paradiso right after it. However, on Barnes & Noble, there is a trick. When you start typing in Hayley's name in the search engine, it starts showing "Hayley Westenra" or "Hayley Westenra Live From New Zealand". With just Hayley Westenra, I came up with nothing. With the Live from New Zealand one, however, I was able to find Hayley's albums. But not Paradiso. Josh Groban's album wouldn't be very prevalent in stores anymore for now, since his latest release was November of last year. And I don't know if you can call him classical anymore. He writes most of his own songs now, even the ones in other languages! He even helps write the music on a lot of them. They're more crossover/pop than classical, now. His voice is definitely classical sounding, though. You should hear his song London Hymn, his voice sounds very classical, and very deep. I wish he would sing that way more often. It was even better than the Christmas songs. Sorry, going off-topic now. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI wouldn't expect them to have any of Hayley's albums in stock right now. At one time, Borders' website said that Odyssey was "likely in stock" at my local Borders'. I don't know if that was really true or not, but the other albums were out of stock. So, I don't know if that was just left like that by mistake, or what It was probably earlier this year that I checked, too! As for B & N, there's a member on the official forum, also from the CW forum, who says he has bought Hayley's albums at his local store, which I think is in Chicago. I think maybe in certain areas might be more likely to have her CDs, like New York, Chicago... and I'm hoping Seattle. When I ordered Winter Magic into my local store, the guy I talked to seemed to think they would have it at the downtown Seattle stores. I'm not sure if they just ordered it from a warehouse, or if they got it from the actual store. Not sure how that type of thing works. I might at least be able to do "store pickup" at Best Buy, if they don't carry it in the store. Yes, Martin, all Borders' stores are closing. There's a sign out now advertizing a "Going out of business" sale. I found out about it the last time I visited their website, though.

Hey Libby,
I agree that Groban isn't classical, but if I were to poll my friends, if any of them even knew what classical-crossover was, the only artist they might have heard of would be him. And just to clarify, my Best Buy (the largest one in San Diego) did not have his latest album at all. They had 'Awake', and it was stocked in their very meager Classical section.
My experience with stores like Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, et al, is that much of what is on their websites is not actually in the stores. I was certainly not expecting them to have any of Hayley's albums in stock, and after surveying the slim pickings of artists that American retailers would label classical, I am highly doubtful that they will even stock 'Paradiso' upon it's release. I hope I am wrong. I will certainly be visiting these locations the week of October 4th to check.

Thanks Libby! After reading your post, I was able to find Hayley on BN.com and BestBuy. The catch for me on BestBuy was to type her last name first and her first name last. haha What a filing system! Since we are talking about stalking in our local stores, my experience is that only the big cities have a wide selection where the newest releases including imports are stocked. But in my little hometown, it is on a need to sell basis of stocking. Which makes sense really, but with the sad looking section called easy listening/standard pop/classical crossover in my stores only means that it is not as popular as the R&B and Rap genres. Alicia

Interesting, I found it by searching for her name normally. The fact that the guy from my local B & N thought that the downtown Seattle store might have Winter Magic is somewhat encouraging. I never found out for sure, but this time, I'm going to find out for sure.

Hey, I just noticed the tracklisting on Amazon.com is improved... mostly. Instead of I Wonder Would, it says Would He Know Me Now. It's missing the word "Even". But at least it makes more sense now. It shows they're at least making an attempt. Oh, but wait a minute... Mezione Di Musica!! Is that even a word in Italian? I guess I spoke (or typed) too soon.
