I met up with Gordon at this morning's 'Silence in the Square' in Trafalgar Square. Laura Wright gave a marvellous performance, singing 'I Vow To Thee My Country' early in the proceedings, then 'Amazing Grace' after the Two Minute Silence. She also sang 'Jerusalem' during her soundcheck, but not during the actual performance. Apparently this had been added at the last minute and somebody forgot to update Ben Shephard's script. Gordon had to leave soon after the show, but I managed to meet Laura and Kathryn Nash for a brief chat. I will definitely go and see Laura again when I get the chance. Richard

Thanks for the links Richard Laura has a lovely voice. I'm looking forward to hearing her live at her Christmas concert with Lee Mead at the Barbican next month. From the partial set list, it looks as though Laura will be singing When the Stars Go Blue with Lee which, of course, he previously sang with Hayley. A hard act to follow! Programme

Martin D I wan't aware of this so I'm going to see if I can make it as I may miss her Peterborough concert because I also have a function in Leomington Spa and Northampton is nearer, but I can't find reference to Faryl as I thought I had picked up on a tweet from her. I got Laura's album for Christmas, and I think it's quite stunning. I actually like her version of The Last Rose of Summer better than any other I've heard, including...gasp...Hayley's.

I saw that live last night - and thoroughly enjoyed it. Laura sang well in what was I'm sure a fabulous night for both Laura and Alfie. It was a great show! They have both experienced the legendary warmth of a Leicester audience when it takes to a performer. I live in hope that Hayley will experience it someday!

Thanks for this Richard. Her voice is lovely. Not having followed her as avidly as Hayley where I am aware of the development over time, Laura suddenly emerges as fully fledged. Hers is a lovely rich voice, like a period claret from which mellifluous flavours tease the senses. Peter S.

Hello folks! Here's a superb performance of "Morning Has Broken" by Laura Wright, accompanied by Rick Wakeman, on BBC One's 'Songs of Praise' last Sunday: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLzCywcAuOgRichard
