Went to HMV Grafton Street the other day with the last of my Christmas Gift vouchers,
Friday afternoon, nice and quiet, Saturdays are far to busy, I like to browse,
unhurried, I can stand back and scan the CD racks without being hit in the face by young people with huge backpacks
that they seem totally oblivious to themselves.
I see a kindly, honest and beautiful face smiling up from among the CDs,
A very familiar face, A face that everyone recognises, but not always for her musical ability.
TWIGGY, I am hoping it is a re-release of her seventies albums, Much to my surprise it is a new album,
In a funny way I am thrilled, it is a NEW album, Well, good on ye Twiggy, dated 2009 is new to me.
Entitled GOTTA SING, GOTTA DANCE.
I take the only TWIGGY copy in the rack, also a 4 disc Ruby Murray Anthology, a 5 disc Henry Mancini set
and lastly a copy of Sinead O'Connor's DVD/CD Theology..
That lot should keep me occupied for the weekend.
I played TWIGGY on Saturday night, This album is delightful, she sings with the ease of the professional she is.
with the experience of thousands of nights on stage on Broadway and in London.
A collection of 19 songs from the 20's, 30's and 40's. Songs by Noel Coward, Cole Porter and Richard Rodgers.
57 minutes of delightful music, Often lighthearted and humorous, Not a minute of the disc is wasted,
Not one song on it needs to be skipped over.
Twiggy sounds great, she sings with the ease of a vocalist who has no need to prove anything to anyone.
The songs are timeless, One of the smoothest versions of A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square I have heard in years..
This album is a gem, It might even help drive the winter blues away.
