Danny Boy is definitely not the version from Treasure. Has Hayley recorded any others? The arrangement sounded similar to the way I remember she sang it at Croydon. I have just listened to Roger's recording of the Croydon concert. Hayley's vocal is almost the same, but the instrumental accompaniment is quite different. I think there is more emotion in this recording than on Treasure .

Do we know if this is a studio recording? If it has more emotion it is probably a recent recording, and could easily be a concert recording.

The album notes say "Recorded by Geoff Foster at Air Lyndhurst Studios, London" and there is no indication that Hayley's track is any different. There is no trace of any audience reaction, so I would say that it almost certainly is a studio recording specially for this album. Therefore it would also be recent. Maybe you should have bought that copy that you saw in ASDA, Martin . John

Hi everyone, Reach For The Skies has entered the main UK album chart today at no. 4. It is also no. 1 in the Classical Chart. This is an excellent result and is likely to have resulted from around, or more than, 15,000 copies sold. According to HMV, the only two singers on this album are Hayley with Danny Boy and Kerry Ellis with Wind Beneath My Wings. Danny Boy is an interesting choice for this album, I'm still a bit puzzled about that although clearly, it's the lyrics. An Irish-American song with lyrics written by an Englishman! Dave

I'm glad to have done my bit towards that chart position i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif. There is another singer. HMV have neglected to mention that 'It's a Long Way to Go' is sung by Flight Lieutenant Matthew Little. John

Matthew Little, yes I've heard of him. A friend at church suggested I look out for him at Nottingham; that was before we knew it was the RAF Regiment, not the Central Band who would be performng with Hayley there.

Hi,
Dutch News this morning said, that Sir Winston Churchill entered the UK hitparade 45 years after his dead, using his speeches on a cd, by the Royal Airforce Band. That must be Reach for the skies !!!

This is almost exactly the same as "Pure" sold in its first week, 7 years ago but such has been the decline in album sales since 2003, it was only enough for Pure to enter the chart at no. 8. Hi Dave,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the highest main UK chart position ever achieved by an album that features Hayley?

Hi Dave, Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the highest main UK chart position ever achieved by an album that features Hayley? I do believe you are right Martin D, it's the highest by a single place. Can anyone guess the previous highest? It is not, however, the greatest UK weekly sales by an album featuring Hayley. Does anyone want to guess which album that is, and its highest sales in a week? Dave

Hi Dave, thanks for that.
Well, since Pure was the fastest selling UK classical album of the century when it came out, it must either be Pure or a non-classical album for highest sales in a week.
Not sure about the highest chart position though.
