Yes, I saw all those tweets, but it just seems like other artists take a lot longer to get albums out once they've started all that stuff. Another artist who's coming out with an album in November (Josh Groban) did his shoots and listened to his mixes back in summer! That's why I was afraid things would take longer than expected. But now I recall that Winter Magic was recorded in August, and released in September in Japan! But still, I don't see why they can't say the release date yet. As for the photos, I don't find it surprising that they would use WM photos for the Christmas tour ads. The new photo shoot has been done, but they most likely aren't Christmasy.

Well, Libby, perhaps they have learned a lesson from Winter Magic, when they announcewd a release date and then changed it, which seemed to mess things up and upset people. If they are not sure of it, and want more information to determine the best date, it is beter to say nothing than announce a date and then change it.

That's true.
Even though Josh's album is out in November, we still don't know the exact date yet.
Maybe Hayley's will be in November, too.

Sorry folks but I am reliably informed that this album will not be released in November. It seems we all have to wait a little longer. Roger

Roger Oh...........we'll have to be patient.....will it be in 2010, or do we have to wait untill 2011? (at least i'm happy with the release of the Northern Ireland DVD) Greetz Joyce

will it be in 2010, or do we have to wait untill 2011? Hi Joyce, All I can say is that no date has yet been decided because, although recording has been completed, there is still a lot of work to be done. The fact that UCJ have to work in conjunction with their Italian counterparts won't exactly speed things up. Hayley had a meeting with Bedlam this morning to discuss the album track by track. I believe this was the first stage towards producing the final mix. I guess they only have the rough mix at the moment. Apparently, she had hoped to join Gerald and I for coffee (we were only down the road) but her meeting lasted too long for that so she had to go home and make her own! Roger

Hi Roger,
I hope that you haven't revealed too much here, well I'm sure you haven't but I thought I'd mention it because the official position from Bedlam on Tuesday was that the release date situation "is still under wraps at the moment" (otherwise I would have said something).
But of course, neither Decca nor Hayley's management has ever announced a release date for this album, so it wouldn't really be a delay as such, just not what we originally expected.

See? My suspicions turned out to be true. I would've preferred to be wrong. Well, maybe it'll be January. It sounds like it's still close to being ready, but just not in 2 months or less.
They wouldn't release it in December, would they? That's when Christmas albums come out. Even if Brits supposedly don't particularly care for Christmas albums, would that really be the best time to release a "regular" album?
I'm ready for 2010 to be done now. :rollin

Hi Libby and everyone, It's probably better that the album comes out early next year. Hayley has the Christmas concerts and the Asia Tour to do as well and it would be better if she could have a clean slate in the new year to really get stuck into the album promotion without being distracted by side-projects. I'd much rather that everything is done perfectly with the album and have it a couple of months later than it be rushed out. Cheers, Jillian

That's true. Remember she'll be going home for the holidays, too. Hey, maybe she'll launch it in New Zealand!

Hi Dave, I specifically asked if it was okay to make this public and Gerald said it was. I only said when it isn't; not when it is. That is still not decided. Roger

It may be of interest that Camilla has opted to release her album in March, 2011, when it was originally aimed for October. I will be happier if more crossover artists did this, as X-Factor is not around during the Mother's Day push. Nor is Susan Boyle.

I won't, if it means they'll be competing with Hayley!

Why are artists postponing their album releases ? It will leave the way clear for Russell Watson who is definitely releasing his.Maybe they feel they'll have more time to tour and promote the albums next Spring ?

It must be a difficult call, Jeff. If you go for the Christmas market in the UK, you are up against reality TV stars past and present, with all the attendant massive TV publicity. And you have to be willing to spend a lot on promotion at that time of year (including effectively paying supermarkets to actually stock the things).
But if you go for the next best sales peak in, say, the UK (Mother's Day in March) and you all do the same, you are all up against one another.
I'm inclined towards doing neither, there are plenty of other weeks in the year and as long as Hayley is actually present in the relevant Country to do TV promotion before and after the release, that would do better I think. Potential sales would be lower but also less risky, and costs should be lower too. It would be easier to get on TV and to achieve a high chart position.
Hayley's 'problem' compared to some other artists is that she has to fit in several important Countries, and concerts or tours there, which cuts down her available time to do promotion in any one of them. And as we know, both release dates and concert dates can change, so it must be a very difficult juggling act.
