Hi Stephany,
I didn't know there was a chart for the Top 20 Concert Tours. For CW to come in at number 15 sounds pretty good. Right, here we go...

Hi Stephany,
Ah, but the figure stated is for the Box Office gross taking. I bet their expenses are massive. Does anyone know if most of the concerts have been a sell-out?

Hi Roger, You are absolutely right - their expenses must be HUGE. But I noctied that the average ticket price is lower for CW than for the 7 first ranked.

I would imagine they are selling a high percentage of the tickets available. Just a quick arithmetic average is 4700ish tickets at that average price and gross. I can't imagine they'd be playing in many venues much larger than that. I know the TPAC where they played in Nashville only seats 3000ish. The TBPAC where they performed in Tampa (which would easily draw from 2 multi-million person metro areas of Tampa/St. Pete and Greater Orlando), only seats 2600.
My guess is the largest venue they would play at here would be University arenas (I know Hayley performed at the University of Florida a few years ago) which seat between 5000-7500.
At any rate, it seems hard to imagine that if they're grossing that much at those ticket prices that they aren't selling most of the seats.

If all their concerts are sold-out; it would mean they could possibly perform in bigger venues. But having too many people would probably have a negative impact because as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't feel as "privileged" as you feel when there's a smaller crowd.

Roger:
I bought my tickets for the upcoming May 12 appearance in Seattle through PBS late last year. Yesterday I had the absurd thought of perhaps upgrading my tickets to get closer than row 6 and tried finding tickets on the 'net. I was only able to find one idiot who was willing to part with seats in the rafters somewhere for $250 through a re-seller agency. If that's any indication, then at least the Seattle concert is a sell-out. Incidentally, PBS sent me a statement for my income tax return indicating the fair market value for my two tickets was $165, the balance of my "contribution" to PBS could be claimed as a tax deduction.

Yeah, PBS drastically overcharges for tickets. I guess that's the fundraising part. I usually just call the box office, but sometimes the best blocks of tickets are reserved for PBS.

Hayley and CW are still in this week's Top 20 Concert Tours. They are still ranked #15 but the figures have increased a bit. Best wishes, Stephany

Roger, regarding your question in Reply#3, it would seem that most of the CW shows are indeed sold out.

Thanks for the great news, Stephany! It will be interesting to see if the position changes significantly next month, because Hayley will not be with Celtic Woman for the June concerts. Best Wishes, Richard
