Hi Umbobo, Hayley has stopped performing with CW around July-Aug 2007. She was always a guest artist with the group. Prior to and as now Hayley is a solo artist, and a successful one. Hayley was a great addition to the group, she fitted in well. Living in the U.S., I saw CW live in concert 4 times in 2007 but unfortunately Hayley was not at any of those performances. The show only had up 5 girls at a time because the producers found it worked better that way. Hayley and Meav would switch on and off for a few shows at a time. Because of CW that's how I heard of Hayley in Nov 2006 (on PBS)....so I have not seen Hayley live in concert yet. But I hope soon she will perform in the US or I may travel to the UK. And OH yes...welcome to this site, there is alot of goings on here, alot of information, and updates of Hayleys' schedule. People here are friendly and the Management team don't bite Anyway welcome again and looking forward to your posts. My Best, Howard

She's always been a solo artist, and I think she's better that way. As Howard says, she was only a guest performer on the DVD and on the tour. I heard of Hayley before CW, but I wasn't really interested in the group until Hayley was in it. Now, I like them a lot, but I still think Hayley's voice is the most beautiful. However, Meav has left the group to pursue a solo career, which I do think is unfortunate. I love her 2 Gaelic songs on each of the DVDs, especially Dulaman.

I don't think it was ever intended that Hayley be a permanent part of Celtic Woman, since it would have had repercussions for her solo career, but frankly, that's speculating.
Anyway, she's back to solo touring now, and I hope it brings her bacck to the US.

that is how i came by her and i looked into her music and it is extraordinary. Thanks for the update!! That's why it was a good thing for Hayley to guest star in their shows, because it has attracted a lot of new fans for her. I actually wasn't all that excited when she did it, because I was afraid she was going to be a permanent member. I didn't (and still don't) want her to be because I didn't want it to take away from her solo career. So, I'm very glad she was with them, but I'm also very glad she's not with them anymore.

Thr answer to your question and almost any other question you care to think up will be on these pages. She started solo and joined CW for a brief period as an 'incidental' to her own US interests--that is if you discount her street busking with her younger siblings. She's all Hayley Westenra solo artiste frequently interacting with diverse persons as mood and circumstances invite her! Peter S.

I think it would help Hayley make inroads in the U S if she would perform again with the Celtic Woman group. They make a lot of U S appearances. That would get her a lot more exposure here. It just takes the right people to notice her. Hopefully the 4th of July appearance will help her. That show is viewed by millions on P B S. I asked the local P B S station in St Louis to feature her in a fund drive and they said they only feature artists that have a current production to view. It takes a lot of tenacity to break into the U S market . It also takes some sacrafices and aggressiveness. The job is tough but the payoff is worth the effort. I know Hayley has the talent, tenacity, and desire; however I'm not sure if her management team does. Proper management is the key element in the U S. Of course the artist must have the talent too. But I think Hayley more than has that portion conered.

Hi Larry,
I understand your disappointment that Hayley's career in the US has not exactly taken off in the way that it has in the UK and elsewhere. However, I doubt if any future association with Celtic Woman would make any significant difference. No more than it did last time, anyway. During their tour in 2007, Hayley appeared as part of the group on 34 occasions and, of course, the PBS special was broadcast in most regions throughout the States. None of that, incidentally, would have been possible without her management team. As the tour and the PBS broadcasts didn't make her a household name, I can understand why she would not want to risk giving any further time to that particular venture, especially as that would take her away from more lucrative projects elsewhere. Also, of course, it is not only her choice. Celtic Woman themselves and their management team would, ultimately, make such a decision.

Hi Larry
See the thread "Sure Fire Ways for Hayley to Succeed in the USA" and a couple of other related threads on the Miscellaneous forum for a complete discussion of this issue - but in brief, I do not believe that Hayley's relative lack of success in the US has been for lack of dedication either on her part or the part of her management.
I also agree in part with Roger. I think that Celtic Woman probably did help Hayley somewhat, but she is still clearly beneath the radar here - and I see no obvious way that future involvement would really do a lot more, unless she had special billing or something. She already sells more in the USA than any of the other girls from the group do.

Hi Grant, I believe that Dave made a similar claim some time back .....so he should feel free to step on me if I am wrong None of them have exactly lit up the pop charts - It is not easy to come by hard numbers at the level of these sales unless you are actually an industry insider. However, unless I missed something, Hayley is the only member who has cracked the Billboard top 100 (top 200 twice) - and the fact that she has had more albums on the classical crossover charts which also tend to hang in there longer is what leads me to the conclusion. The only other artist I have seen charted from the group is Chloe, who based on the fact that she has also had some hang time (though somewhat less I think) is probably the closest to Hayley. Jon

Yes, that is a fact, it is somewhere in the Chart News boards. And yes, Chloe is second, after our Hayley!

Hi Jon
Thanks for the update. Do you think CW had anything to do with Hayley's greater achievements, or is it just down to her? Also, why do you think Chloe is the only one to achieve anything from the rest of the group?
I only ask because, for me, she was the least appealing.
Best wishes Grant
