Hello Nicola i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifHey Grant,
I just reviewed one of Emm'a albums. It's not the one you have, but I hope you'll like it when it arrives:
Etterna: bit.ly/9wfxXB An interesting review - I was actually quite surprised that you hadn't already reviewed "Etterna", considering your earlier comment, as I looked for it before placing my order My copy of "Etterna" arrived on Tuesday and I've listened to it a couple of times - will say more on the appropriate thread when I've had a few more listens Best wishes Grant

Glad you liked it, Grant. I may review Carmine Meo someday. I am careful about reviewing albums that I view as "ultimate" crossover albums. "Pure" and "Etterna" are the only ones currently on the list. Other albums include Brightman's "La Luna", Watson's "The Voice/Amore Musica", Josh Groban's "Awake", etc. I worry about coming across too biased/gushy. I know 'Etterna' was very positive, but I hope it had objectivity in it! ANYWAY Updates are well underway on the website. My talented and generous web designer has been working very hard. We have made it easier to navigate by putting artists into categories, but you don't have to choose them (so there's no extra clicking). But it's great if you do, because they have a better listing page! Have a look at the "female vocalists" for example: www.classical-crossover.co.uk/artprofiles/female-vocalists.htmlAnd here's the new page of album reviews: www.classical-crossover.co.uk/album-reviews.html(look at the nice clean URLs! Whoo hoo! They used to be a mile long of random numbers and letters) As you can see on the artist profiles, there's a box for "awards". They will come soon! XD

Hi Nicola,
The updated version of the site looks amazing! It's very easy to read, yet shares even more information than the previous version did.

The review will have to wait for after Camilla, but I have everything I need for it! XD
By the way, I saw Camilla live twice over that week, and I can safely say that her live performances are absolutely fine - I think her Alan Titchmarsh and Popstar to Operastar performances were a case of nerves behaving badly. Granted, she's not perfect, but her imperfections are actually very endearing. I enjoyed her live.

AH HA! I was wondering where all the karma was coming from! Lol! But I have no idea what it's use is!
Just an update to say that the interview with Fiona Pears is now complete. She has made the job quite easy for me, so shouldn't take long to put up. Her answers are very interesting!

Oh! By the way! We have added a calendar on to the website. I would be eternally grateful to anybody that wants to add Hayley's dates in (or anyone's dates!). I was at it 5 hours straight yesterday trying to get all the tour dates in, but I have over 70 artists to deal with! As long as you are a member, you can add dates in the calendar. www.classical-crossover.co.uk/calendar/month.calendar/2010/05/24/-.htmlIt needs to be approved by me before it shows up on the site.

New update on the editor's top ten. It's now editor's top twenty (though it doesn't say that yet), but it has been completed, and Hayley's position has gone up. EDIT: Link would be useful, wouldn't it? www.classical-crossover.co.uk/top20.html

Good stuff Nicola. Yes, I don't think I could put Sarah above Hayley, even though I love them both. Yes, Sarah has been going longer, but do an A/B against Hayley and her voice sounds weaker and less well controlled.
For me the test is I like hayley best with minimal backing, so that it doesn't detract from the beauty of her voice. With Sarah that is rarely the case, as if she is trying to hide behind the backing in many cases. Yes, the arrangements are interesting, artistic and original, but if we are judging singers it has to be about the singing first and foremost. And singers don't come any better than Hayley. That combination of power, range, control and perfect pitch is unbeatable. On that basis, Sarah only competes on range.
