Hi Steve Great photos as always. It looks like you were sitting in the Stalls, block H.
It would be interesting to hear how Raven compared with Escala?
I have passed a link to the photos onto Natasha Marsh.
Best wishes Martin

I wrote down all the ones I knew for the review I am going to write. I am still not home until Thursday, so it will take a while for it to be up.
One thing I will say right now is that I am disgusted by Escala. They were in the Royal Albert Hall with a world renowned orchestra and conductor and they.... used their album backing track to accompany themselves. Lazy, rude and insulting. No amount of leg stomping makes up for the lack of performance in those girls. I didn't applaud them at all. I saw them previously at Katherine's concert and they did the exact same thing in the exact came outfits. You'd think they'd adapt to a cause such as this one. Everybody else did.

Hi Nicola,
Really? I would have thought that most artists would have jumped at the chance to have an orchestra.
Are Escala very famous? They look a little gimmicky to me.
Cheers, Jillian

Hello Jillian! Escala rose to fame when they reached the final of Britain's Got Talent in 2008: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escala_(group)I see one of them is a direct descendant of the Swedish Nightingale, Jenny Lind. Richard

Nicola Good to hear I am not the only one who believes that Escala are using 'style' over 'substance'. I saw them on Katherine's recent tour and was much more impressed with their performance when using traditional instruments than the gimmicky feel of the electronics. I was very disappointed that their normal performance relies on backing tracks but, as you say, to use backing tracks whilst performing in the Royal Albert Hall with an orchestra was totally unbelievable.
Jillian Escala have had one hit album but they are backed by Simon Cowell's company so that may explain how they got to perform 3 songs when other established names like Blake (3 hit albums), Paul Potts (2 hit albums), Faryl (2 hit albums) and the other stars who have had a single hit album were limited to 2 songs.
To put it in perspective, Escala were the only negative side to an amazing show.

I have passed a link to the photos onto Natasha Marsh. Best wishes Martin I may be biassed but I much prefer Raven to Escala. They are 4 very talented young ladies who rely on their immense musical talents. Escala are probably very talented but the combination of the electronic instruments, the backing tracks, the sequinned dresses and the appalling choreography are just a distraction. When watching them, it looks so artificial that I could easily believe they were just playing a CD as it doesn't look live at all. I have been fortunate enough to see Raven several times when they have been guests with Hayley and they are excellent. I am guessing that Escala use their 'style' to attract a younger and non-classical audience and they were certainly popular with plenty of people at the Hall on Saturday. Perhaps my age is one of the things that means I much prefer Raven

Hi Keith and everyone I may be biassed but I much prefer Raven to Escala. I don't know much about Escala, but they'd have to be pretty amazing to better Raven and, from what I've read in this thread so far thy seem to fall far short of being able to do that! Best wishes Grant
