Hi all, It's only a rumour, of course. On the site event-one7.com/projects/ you can find a hint that there could be a concert at the Sydney Opera House (from 20th-23rd of December 2010) for Christmas Presence, although the given name could be spelt more correctly. It's not clear if it'll go on and even if so, if it'll be a public event. So perhaps our members on the southern hemisphere could have a look every now and then. Cheers, Karsten Edited by Dave 3 Aug 2010: I think we know enough now to say definitely that this will not happen!

An interesting find Karsten!
It looks to me as though event-one7 is a consultancy contracted to find sponsors for Christmas Presence Ltd who intend to put on a concert at Sydney Opera House. I hope they are more effective at their job than they are at spelling!
The blurb makes reference to 'a' concert, so I suspect the range of dates allow for some flexibility in finalising details. It would also appear from the wording that Hayley is provisionally booked for the concert.
This would fit in with what we think we already know i.e. that there is to be a concert tour of New Zealand in November 2010. If this is so, it seems unlikely that Hayley would return to the UK for a few weeks, only to fly back to New Zealand for Christmas.
One possibility is that she may have her holiday with the family after the tour; spend Christmas with the family and return to the UK earlier than we have come to expect; say in early January. That would make a few concerts in Oz a real possibility. Pure speculation of course!
Best wishes Grant

Hello Spiderman, We didn't, not really. A few things have been mentioned as possible or "hope for" events, perhaps even by Hayley or members of her management team but nothing is confirmed and as we know, even firm plans can change this far in advance. So you haven't really missed anything, I'm tempted to rename this thread "The Rumours Thread"!. Cheers, Dave

OK, if this thread is about speculation, here is another one. Since New Zealand are involved in the football World Cup, will this also involve Hayley??

thats not so bad then... depending on when i could do sydney [20th is possible; later not really, i need to be home with my family at christmas and still have time to shop for presents; i just checked airnz hlz/syd/ dunedin... 509$ definitly possible]
to echo dave's future post... the badness of speculation is in proportion to the amount of evidence supporting it. we are very excitable people. i suspect our love for hayley [semantic issues nothwithstanding] gets in the way of our judgement and discretion sometimes

No Martin D, this isn't really a speculation thread, I said that tongue-in-cheek. Too much speculation especially in the absence of any evidence to support it is unproductive, some would say pointless. But we do have a chat thread. I really do think we know far too little about this so-called event in Sydney, and indeed, the website that mentioned it. It can hardly be called a reliable site, they can't even get their spelling and grammar right - nor do they have their "Projects" list ordered correctly (Sydney 2010 is listed under "Past Projects"). If it happens it happens but I wouldn't bet even one penny on it at this stage. Dave

Hi Dave nor do they have their "Projects" list ordered correctly (Sydney 2010 is listed under "Past Projects"). Well, it would be a "past project" if they have already completed their contract. but we still won't know whether or not they were successful in finding sponsors until we hear something positive from Christmas Presence Ltd. but WOW a concert in Sydney Opera House? Even I could be tempted Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant,
Well yes but the only date mentioned in each write-up is the event date so in the absence of any clarification, it's reasonable to latch onto that I think. I rather hope that if (big if) anything comes of this, they aren't still involved, judging by the unprofessional way their website reports seem to have been produced!

Me too! That would be awesome. I imagine it would be quite pricey even if it was a public event. And that's assuming it's real, lol.

Well, they sound pretty sure she'll be there; they've obviously arranged for it already, if they can say that Hayley "is the special guest for 2010". Hopefully it'll work out. It's a long time from now, but it would be really nice for the people in that region of the world to hear Hayley sing Christmas songs live for a change. UK has had her for Christmas concerts for a few years, I should think it's someone else's turn next. Yes, I think a tour in NZ & Australia is long overdue. And how about North America next?

I wish Hayley would tour North America too, Libby, so my family can see her. But I'm afraid she doesn't quite have a market there to financially risk losing money on a tour that big.
This Sydney concert sounds awesome...if I win the lottery, that is! :2fun:

Ok... Jillian... try not to get too excited too quickly....
If that's happening I'm so there. It shouldn't be too hard to get annual leave right before Christmas -- as most places pretty much shut down then.
But I won't get too ahead of myself just yet!

Like Grant, I too could be tempted. Especially since I could be retired by then. What a way to celebrate. Then go on to NZ for a motorhome tour, a longtime ambition of ours.
Sydney Opera House I have seen, but never got to hear a performance there. To hear Hayley there would be awesome!
Might mean Christmas away from the family though, and I'm not sure if Sue could be persuaded!

Hi All, I'm so used to looking at Australia as not aware of the name Hayley Westenra at all that I took a while before I even took a peek at this thread. But time will tell....can't imagine the SOH being used for a so called corporate event but I suppose it could be marketed as one of a series of shows which people hold subscriptions for. And the amateurish way the website is presented is quite unconvincing & halfhearted. On a positive note, if it happens, I'd be as thrilled as any other Hayley fans to book a couple of seats in the front row next to Kevin Rudd. Graeme
