Gosh, you guys don't lose any time do you! Thanks for the photos Karsten and set list Grant. I was with you both a couple of hours ago. This was a fantastic show, one I won't forget in a hurry, Hayley was in fine form and she seemed to sing a lot of my personal favourites. That was 17 songs performed by Hayley, plus I think about half a dozen more by Raven (who were also brilliant), not forgetting A J Moore and Timothy Evans. Hayley spent the best part of an hour signing and chatting in the rather cramped area ouside the stage door, not leaving until she had seen everyone. What a delightful sweet girl she is. A proper report from me will have to wait until tomorrow, and I might have some photos too. I have to be up for work at 7am. That's if I can sleep after such a wonderful night. Martin D

The Day Unfolds Having collected Gordon and Elizabeth, I set a course for Buxton on an unusually warm August Sunday afternoon. Now I have a set route for Buxton which I use on a regular basis but failed on this occasion to account for the hoards of visitors queuing to get into Matlock and Matlock Bath! Such that, at the time I would have expected to be approaching Buxton, we were still the wrong side of the traffic lights at Cromford! Fortunately once clear, we had an easy and pleasant run across the moors to Buxton, although I had, by then, accepted that our chances of arriving in time to see Hayley had almost certainly gone.
Parking was to be our next challenge as the car park I was intending to use was partially occupied by builders compounds and cabins and practically full to boot. A bit of quick thinking secured us one of the few remaining spaces and, at a few minutes past three we were approaching the Opera House. With not one familiar face in sight, we headed for the stage door but, before we had time to deduce that the tour bus was not there, Graham had caught up to us and passed on the very happy news that Hayley was still to arrive!
Subsequent to our last visit a little over two years ago, the street adjacent to the stage door has been closed to traffic with temporary barriers allowing access only to official vehicles. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the tour bus arrived and was directed through the barriers to park. They’re in a different minibus this afternoon but I remembered that the previous one had a door on the offside which Hayley had used and I think I expected the same so headed into the road – no door! It was at this point that I heard Elizabeth say “Here she is” as I turned, a beaming Hayley was heading straight for Elizabeth who promptly gave her a big hug! Well, that made Elizabeth’s day and we happily chatted with Hayley until she was ushered inside. I did ask Hayley if she could tell us what song she sang on the Michael Ball show, but she gave one of her trade mark giggles and said it was a secret.
With Hayley safely inside, we returned to the front of the Opera House to wait for the box office to open at 4pm – several of our group have tickets to collect and others are on a poster and flyer hunt! As usually happens at this point, out attention turned to food – Martin has been surveying the adjacent hostelry which appears similar to our normal Wetherspoon’s so we elected to give it a try – good move! The food was excellent and we managed to get our group seated together. Sue and Elizabeth were getting quite excited watching the football on the pub's TV whilst the rest of us pretended not to be with them!. We even had time for a wander round the Pavilion Gardens in the warm evening sun before heading back to the Opera House to take our seats for tonight’s concert.
Part 2 to follow
Best wishes Grant

I like the hair band with flowers on it. Looking forward to more. Wow, that sounds like a wonderful selection of songs. I wish I could've heard all of those songs live, too.

Thanks, Karsten! I got to see some more even before going to bed, too! It must be really early there right now. What time is it? The forum says 4 am, but I thought England was farther ahead of Seattle than 5 hours...

Hi Libby, yes, quite early - it was 4 am GMT(Greenwich Mean Time)/ UTC (Universal Time Coordinated), but 5 am BST (British Summer Time). At any rate I'm used to get up at 5 am local time, so I was awake from 4 am BST. I hate the time differences. - sorry to be off-topic. Greetings to the States, Karsten
