Hello everybody! From The Royal British Legion: A moving tribute song was recorded last night at London's Abbey Road studios to raise money for The Royal British Legion with Bee Gee legend Robin Gibb and crooner Michael Bolton heading a star-studded line-up. They were joined by soul singer Mica Paris, former Free and Queen frontman Paul Rodgers, Lee Mead, who won TV's Any Dream Will Do, ex-Atomic Kittens Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon, T'Pau singer Carol Decker, Squeeze keyboard player Paul Carrack, Small Faces drummer Kenny Jones and the Legion's own songbird, Hayley Westenra. Army drummers, pipers and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra also performed on the song "We Will Remember Them", written by Whitesnake's Robert Hart and A1 star Mark Read. It features the lines: "Can't put faces to the names, In gardens made of stone, They went away as strangers, But they never died alone." The chorus runs: "We will remember them, Give thanks and honour them, For our tomorrow, They gave their today." Gibb, 59, said: "The sacrifices our troops make are extraordinary. This song can help raise awareness of what they do. British troops don't get the respect they deserve. They do a tremendous job but should receive more support, like they do in America." West End star Lee Mead said: "I'm honoured to take part. Let's raise lots of cash and get to Number 1." "We Will Remember Them" will be available to download on iTunes on November 8, Remembrance Sunday. The CD is due in shops the next day. There is a wide range of music raising money for the Poppy Appeal in 2009. Click here to find out more.
Richard

Thanks Richard and answers the question posed by Hayley's tweet last night. A very impressive list of artists!

Yes, Sing I posted about this elsewhere. And about how Mica Paris failed to mention Hayley by name. I find this hugely unfair, and am tempted not to buy it because Hayley was not mentioned, i have no interest in Mica Paris or anyone else who was mentioned (to be fair, several other who were there were ignored too). But since Hayley actively promoted it, I will probably download it when my anger subsides.

I agree Martin, she should have mentioned Hayley-when you consider all of the people involved in it, she only mentioned, I think, three- and for that reason I too won't be downloading it straightaway I think I'll wait a couple of weeks and see then if I get the single CD...I'm sure I will as I think it's for a great cause, and I love what I've heard of the song, it's got such a strong, true meaning and sentiment to it best wishes Sing x

Thanks for quoting the play.com download link Richard, I don't think you can buy just one track (and nothing else, ever) from iTunes without losing the rest of your subscription payment - but if its changed its policy in recent years, someone please tell me. I do have iTunes the software though and I see that this single is currently their no. 90 ranked download. Dave

I downloaded the single, great song! I also watched the video that I found very poignant. I don't think you can buy just one track (and nothing else, ever) from iTunes without losing the rest of your subscription payment Do you mean, that if we buy songs on iTunes but one day stop buying there, we lose all the songs we already bought before? Juliette Hello Juliette, No! I'm sure you would keep everything. I was just wondering if you could pay exactly the cost of the download and no more, 79p or whatever (like at 7digital.com). If you have to feed your account in chunks of £1 or £5 or whatever, it's no use to me at all as I buy downloads so rarely. I know very little about iTunes and I don't want to subscribe until I know the answer to these basic questions (which I can't find on the iTunes site). I will probably buy/download it from somewhere else, as I always have done so far. Dave.

When I setup my account I gave them a credit card number and whenever I download something they charge the card exactly the amount for that download. Does that help? Bill

If it's the same in the UK, I may as well subscribe. There used to be a minimum amount for credit card transactions, hopefully that has changed, even in the UK. Dave
