Have you ever had a weekend where you wished it would never end, I just have. I have just spent three wonderful days at Sandy's mountain in the wilderness and it was amazing. I write this with the full consent of Sandy and her Parents, the location of Sandy's address is private. Sandy and her Dad picked me up from the Kendall railway station at around midnight, after a short drive of about 5 minutes we left the town and we where soon driving up a steep winding narrow road through a tropical jungle so dense you wouldnt be able to walk through it. A few minutes later we arrived at THE HOUSE, OMG, to say it is enormous is an understatement, a two storey mansion on top of a mountain with views so breathtaking its indiscribable with out pictures. I was ushered in and made to feel just a part of the family, after being shown my room, so big my entire flat would fit neatly within it I was treated to a warm cup of coffee and home made cheesecake, DELISHIOUS in one word. After commenting on the size of the house I was given a guilded tour, the left wing first which has 5 huge guest rooms and 3 with ensuit baths, and a HUGE spa.the window in the spa room has no curtains, you look straight out into dense bushland which is just WOW, then into the right wing which comprises a lounge room, family room, games room and small library, the lounge room with open fire place is so big you could hold the parlimentary conference in it, I wont even begin to describe the other rooms, the kitched has 2 island benches for food preparation, unbelievable, they have piped music throughout the house and it seems to play only HAYLEY WESTENRA music, funny that but im NOT complaining, after commenting to Sandy's dad about the space he remarked , well we might be lucky enough to hold a Hayley get together for Ozzies here one weekend, then it was downstairs to Sandy's HUMBLE retreat, after i picked my eyes up off the floor and regained my composure as I have never seen a bedroom with a heated indoor swimming pool and private suit before I just remarked "NO WAY,,,you have got to be kidding me, You have a swimming pool in your bedroom", Sandy said, "comfy hey thats because it used to be the entertainment section of the house but I conned dad into making it into my room HEY!!!!!!you can stay down here with me if you want HEY!!!!!," It took me close to 2 minutes to go get my bags. So after Sandy's parents bid us goodnight it took me about 2 seconds to strip and dive into that pool, wow, after a six hour train trip it was wonderful, Sandy ( the fish) joined me and we soaked for about an hour and Sandy cracked jokes one after the other before retiring for the night. That girl just cracks me up,To give you an idea of Sandy humour, after she got out of the pool, standing there dripping wet on the drying mat she raises her arms in the air and looking up crys, " HEY, very funny scotty,.... now .....BEAM DOWN MY CLOTHES HEY, being a star trek fan I just cracked up, I laughed so much i couldnt climb out of the pool. the thought of Scotty beaming someone down naked as a joke just got me. Friday Morning. I slept in until 9am, Sandy made us breakfast and we sat in the sun in our PJ's, on one of her verandahs together with countless species of wildlife waiting patiently for a spare crumb to be thrown to them. After i relinquished half my breakfast to the local inhabitants (Well you couldnt resist those longing eyes) we showered and I was given a tour of the orchard ( with MANGO trees)gardens and what they call a house yard but we call an estate, I was introduced to various species of Wallabies, Lizards and bush turkeys, and i thought bush turkeys were dangerous. NO animal or bird at Sandy's is caged, there all free wild animals, Im now wondering why we call them wild. Then Sandy and I were off for a tour of the area in her little toyota hatch, within 10 minutes (or about 4 Hayley songs) we were at a beautiful beach, so it was down to the bikini and off for a stroll, sun, surf and a really fun person to be with. Then off to North Brother Mountain ( it took 3 Hayley songs to get there) for some SPECTACULAR views of Lauriton, North Haven and as far as the eye can see to Port Macquarrie. WOW But OMG it was freezing up there. A couple of hours later and we were in Port Macquarrie, WOW, A new range of SHOPS, did I say that, I guess i did, lol. I LOVE shopping. Then it was off home ( about 8 hayley songs)to that wonderous little castle on the mountain, We had only been home 5 or 10 minutes when the sky turned black and the heavens opened up, I actually enjoyed just standing on the verandah watching the rain, the smell of fresh rain in the bush is heavenly, then a miricle the sky cleared and a beautifull double rainbow appeared. After that it was time for another dip in Sandy's pool. We showered and Sandy's parents took us to the local club for dinner, tea as they call it, After being introduced to almost every one in the club we settled on a seafood entree followed by roast pork and CRACKLE and to finish off with a soft serve ice cream cone. Its ok, ive started back on my diet now that im home. Then off home again, off to bed, we chated for about 4 hours and cracked jokes until we couldnt keep our eyes open. almost asleep and Sandy asked me to explain something to her, after I answered her she replied in her usuall sweet way, hey, like now im more confused then a baby in a topless bar hey, and we cracked up and I couldnt stop laughing until my stomach hurt. you had to be there lol. View from north Brother Mountain North Brother again, Sorry about my butt in the way Melisa.

Saturday Morning Slept in again, breakfast on the verandah again in our PJ's, the view there is to die for, the mountainous bush I mean, not the PJ's, then a quick dip to wake us up and we took off to the Koala Sanctuary about 20 minutes down the road towards Wauchope, more Hayley songs as Sandy measures distance by how many of Hayley"s songs she can play between the departure point and the destination, WOW, now that place is awesome, not just Koalas, an assortment of snakes, spiders, and countless animals such as monkeys, kangaroos, a cassawarra bird etc etc.. and after a great lunch we headed off as Sandy wanted to show me the views from the back road through the country side which was absolutley spectacular. Seeing is believing and only a pictures could describe it. Home again and you guessed it another quick dip, then upstairs for a home cooked meal of apricote chicken on a bed of rice, it melted in my mouth. Sandy's mum can really cook. We then watched a dvd, Hayley Westenra, Live in New Zealand, wow, twice for my benefit, the whole family are Hayley fans so that explains the wonderful hospitality. Time for a spa, WOW, to relax in a spa while listening to Hayley singing and looking out over the wonderous Ozzie bush is brillient, Skin started to go pruny so had to get out.Off to bed and more girls only chatter and Sandy's jokes again until I hurt, SLEEP. A great place for breakfast A double rainbow Just before the rainbow Melisa

Sunday Morning....Up early, sorry lieing, I slept in again and breakfast on the verandah in our PJ.s, this time eggs on toast with vegemite, and it is as Sandy says, yummy, it really is, ohhh my figures just gone beserk. My last day in paradise Sandy suggested a walk through the forest behind thier home, ok Im up for anything now, so off we went, if we werent walking up hill we were walking down, the forest is so thick but the beauty of the bush is unparallel with anything, one thing i was grateful for, we didnt see a snake, other wild life were in abundance, we are so lucky to live in a country where nature and wildlife abound and yet we have no big man eaters, or in this case, girl eaters, well in that area anyway, though i would hate to be out there in the dark. Amazingly i said to Sandy, its so quiet isnt it and she said "no, just stop, now listen, really listen hey" and the sounds that you wouldnt really think are there are amazing, when you stand still and really listen you can even hear the insects in the ground, talk about a lesson in nature.I couldnt begin to tell you how Sandy awakened my inner senses over the weekend. On the way back Sandy remarked how walking always reminds her of a joke, THERES JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THE WAY SANDY TELLS A JOKE " before critizing someone you should always walk a Kilometre in their shoes, that way when you criticise them your a Kilometre away and you have their shoes" we cracked up and almost imediatley we were joined by what sounded like a hundred kookaburras laughing their heads off. eerie.....surely they didnt hear us let alone understand the joke. Sandy assured me thats just Kookas for you. Well all good things must come to an end, Sandy and her dad drove me to the railway station with Hayley singing shannandoh which together with the song and the fact that I was leaving almost made me cry and after thanking them with kisses and cuddles and yes I had tears in my eyes,I caught the train home, I want to go back right now, to Sandy and her Mum and Dad, thankyou for a fantastic HAYLEY weekend and i will be back again, thankyou. Now wheres that application for annual leave. With love Mel. PS. I love Sandy's philosphy on life, Don't take life too seriously hey, you won't get of out it alive.treat others as you would want them to treat you and above all, love one another HEY............ Ohhhh ive just remembered another one of Sandy's jokes, IF AT FIRST U DONT SUCCEED, SKYDIVING IS NOT FOR YOU .....you have to hear Sandy tell it.. First sunlight after the storm....it was so pretty even my camera coundnt catch the beauty. The view from Sandy's on a normal day. its so nice Melisa.
