Hello folks! I've just spotted a very interesting fact about Hayley's management team. Two of the five people we know at Bedlam Management share their surnames with Classic FM's past or present Composers in Residence - Hannah (Patrick) Hawes and Nicola (Howard) Goodall. How's that for an amazing coincidence? Richard

I'm sure many have noticed, but.....Hayley has a birthmark on her chest...you can see it clearly when she wears v-neck dresses and such.... Just thouht to put this in here.... Paige:)

Does anyone know who's Hayley's inspiration? I thought maybe Joni Mitchell might be one because Hayley has sung at least two of her songs..... just curious!! Best Holiday Wishes to all, Paige

I am not that sure at all, but when I watched the video of her appearance in that keyhole program, I couldn't help focusing on Carreras' books she apparently was reading... So, it may be one of her inspirations, and I have to say, a quite worth one (probably my favorite male singer in the classical world).

I think Hayley is influenced by all sorts of people. But whatever she does she puts her own slant on it, and enbues it with her own personality. She is not trying to copy anybody, although when she sings other people's songs, she does sounfd quite a lot like them (e.g Wuthering Heights, Both Sides Now, River - but not really Eva Cassidy) . But I have never come across a singer that can sing brilliantly in so many different styles as Hayley. Everything from Operatic Arias, Classical songs, Hymns and Sacred Songs, Gospel, folk, Country, soft rock, pop, jazz, musical theatre, jpop, even rap, just about everything except blues and soul music. And that may only be because she hasn't got round to it yet. Hayley is sonthing we haven't really seen for quite a few years, an original artist. We had lots of them in the sixties and seventies, but precious few since music became so dervivative and boring. Hayley is like a breath of fresh air. She does things her own way, and won't be bullied into submitting to the likes of Simon Cowell, and sombody else's ideas of what will sell. Long may it continue.

Yes, Martin, of course, we agree and that's what I was pointing out in the thread I started recently. But it is also true that, precisely a singer like Hayley, with her versatility and creativity, has almost the obligation (obligation, that I think she really enjoys) to be constantly learning new stuff and improving herself, and that includes learning and getting inspiration from other artists. And, lol, excuse my repeating, but Carreras is such a great master... Not the only one, of course.
But, lol, you mentioned rap?! Could you say in what song you found Hayley got closer to rap? That's the only kind of music I really don't like, and I am really curious about how Hayley may sound influenced by it.

Yes, there is a performace somewhere (I downloaded the video) where she made a guest appearance with a rap band called the "Misfits of Science". I think there is a link to it on HWI somewhere. She didn't actually rap herself, but was vocalising behing the rapper. Martin

I once read somewhere that Hayley does not drive a vehicle. Has anyone else read or heard this? I think the article also said she never really learned how to drive. I guess this would make sense in a way because she usually travels by other modes of transportation and I would assume someone else would "escort" her.

Hi devotedfan I suppose there isn't much point in Hayley driving - all the travelling she is doing at the moment is done with others, and besides, she would need rest after each concert! There is hardly any point owning a car in London either - the public transport is good enough, despite what Jeremy Clarkson says! Its an important skill to have under your belt though, so maybe she has learnt to drive - not sure - I'm sure some others on this forum could answer! Besides, if not, I'd be happy to teach her - for free of course! Cheers, Ben

I know I would!!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Can you imagine all the witty comments she would make when she learned how to drive?? Best Holiday Wishes to all, Paige

Although being right-handed, when holding the microphone, Hayley uses mostly her left hand. (just noticed it watching her videos)

I think Hayley may be ambidextrous. I must remember to ask her about it some time. Richard
