how about playing the CD in the car whilst parked at Harlyn, looking out over the beach, on a perfect evening, with the sun setting... (although you will be unlikely to see the sun set in Cornwall! ) Hi Ben, Or even drive to Hayle, where we once camped. It lacks only one letter.... Martin

Hi Libby The fourth Hayley track is Christmas Morning - I did confirm that in my review I can't say much about the first two tracks as I don't know them; don't know when they were written or anything although "Carol of the Bells" is shown as 'Traditional' so will be quite old I guess. It's also sung very quickly but I like them both very much. Best wishes Grant

Hi Martin Inside the album (it is the Special Edition) is a calendar for 2010! Yes really, illustrated with pictures of Hayley. There is a booklet, but this does not include the song lyrics, so you will have to work them out for yourselves there they are not well known. And since there are a number of Hayley's own compositions, you won't know them all for sure. I'm puzzled! You say you have the Special Edition with 2010 calender, so you should also have a separate booklet with the lyrics in English and Japanese. Has anyone else NOT got this? Incidentally, there are some gorgeous additional pictures in the booklet/calender. Best wishes Grant

I didn't look at the white booklet too closely, since from a quick look it seemed to be in Japanese. But yes the lyrics are there. Sorry for misleading you all. Martin

Oops, I did read your whole message, I just forgot about that song. It's harder for me to remember the ones I don't know very well (yet).
You've never heard "Carol of the Bells"? Hmm, this is interesting to find out which songs are well-known where. So, I've never heard Coventry Carol, but you have. You've never heard Carol of the Bells, but I have. Yes, the song is supposed to be fast like that. I sang it in school choir once, and I loved singing it! I was a soprano, too. I think I need to join a choir again, I really miss it.

If you were to just glance through this thread you would assume that Grant or other members from the UK won this race. Well, I can't have that... The Spiderman and I got the Winter Album 14 hours before UK members!!and from the sounds of it... I was the first on HWI to listen through the whole album!! (and announce it)My modesty goes out the door in competitions like this... BTW Grant I really enjoyed your review, it is pretty much the same as my reaction! Can't wait to read some more! Like Libby I also knew Carol of the Bells, but had never heard of The Coventry Carol.

They should name something for her in Christchurch. Graeme, don't the mail carriers in Australia work on Saturdays? They do here.

Hello folks! According to Hayley's latest tweet, the correct title of her new Japanese album is: Richard Thank you Richard for the introduction. So the best translation should be "Splendor of Winter". I have translated it "Winter Glow" a few month ago. Splendor sounds more powerful than glow to me. But please remember that English is just my second tongue and my ability is very much limited. According to the members comment who already have obtained the CD, it is more than their expectations and Splendor is more suitable indeed. I even live in Japan but I have been busy this week and I still do not have any chance to visit CD store yet. So I was far behind people like you who live away from Japan. The nearest CD store was out of busyness and I can not buy CDs quickly these days. Best wishes. Maya

Hi Jono HaHa!! I wasn't trying to steal your thunder and was quite happy to conceded that you and New Zealand were, indeed, first to receive and hear "Winter Magic". I was quite satisfied to win the UK race! Best wishes Grant

Hayley sounds wonderful as always, but am I allowed to feel just a tiny bit cheated? Some of the tracks seem to have over-long introductions before we get to hear her voice. On the Wings of Time is a beautiful tune, but Hayley only gets to sing for 95 seconds. I wish we could have had more!
