Hi all,
The 92 year old Dame Vera waving to Hayley (see below) is really getting up there in years now. NINETY-SEVEN on the 20th of next month. Came across some good pictures of her recently with Andre Rieu. Very little difference in 5 years. Amazing.

The Dame Vera Lynn Trust's website doesn't say that Hayley will be performing at the Swingtime Ball in Brighton on Saturday, so she may only be attending as a guest of honour. I wouldn't be surprised if she does join the band for a couple of numbers though, so I hope there'll be some reports and photographs.

Hi Richard if you scroll down on the main page of the dvltrust.org.uk link. The last item shows a concert coming up at the Royal Albert Hall I think it is a Tuesday night in April.Anybody know anything about it? just putting it out there,

I've found this photo. Hayley is wearing her Zara dress that she last wore to Gwl Gobaith in mid 2012.





A quick search of facebook pulled that one up from a public facebook profile of someone who attended.

That's a very nice pic of her hair! It's very interesting seeing it "bobbed," since I don't believe she's done that before. I wonder if she'll keep it this length or grow it out...

What a fantastic evening we all had at our Swingtime Ball at the Grand Hotel Brighton on Saturday night. There are so many people to thank, the amazing entertainers, our host, auctioneer, hotel staff, bid-tech, our sponsors and all our guests who supported us. It was a truly wonderful evening and a big thank you to everyone who donated to our raffle, live auction and silent auction and won some fantastic prizes. We will have some photos to share with you soon!

Here's a short report from The Dame Vera Lynn Trust:

A SWINGTIME SENSATION

We held our big event of the year 'The Swingtime Ball' on Saturday 1st March at the Grand Hotel in Brighton and what a tremendous night it was.

Over 165 guests attended the event and were entertained at the drinks reception by magician David Stewart who performed some amazing card tricks. This was followed by a three-course dinner during which our host for the evening, Tony Marks from Juice 107.2 encouraged everyone to take part in the 'Kings and Queens' game and our guests were then entertained by the Swingtime Sweethearts, The Regular Joes, The Brighton Linday Hoppers, Siobhan Regan and Barry Randall and The West End Kids.

Our Chairman, Peter Sutton and Vice-President, Hayley Westenra then announced the winners of the raffle prizes before our Auctioneer for the evening, Will Rowsell, got everyone bidding in the Live Auction for which there were some amazing prizes on offer.

Our entertainers then returned to the stage and we were treated to a night of wonderful singing and dancing into the early hours.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of them for making our evening such a success and also thanks go to our sponsors, HSBC Bank, Royal & Sun Alliance and Penningtons Manches, our raffle and auction prize donors, Gill Pike Florist, bid-tech, Reveries and the Grand Hotel and not forgetting all our guests for supporting the Dame Vera Lynn Trust at our event.

We look forward to next year!
