If there was a U S Winter Magic album I never saw it. If there was one it would have been better called a Christmas album. I've yet to see Paradiso album in the U S . I saw three Susan Boyle albums in Target today and two of Jackie Evancho and a Christmas album from a young new U K female artist. I could probably find a Hayley album if I went to one of the book stores; but that's not where most people buy their albums. Incidentally I have never seen a Hayley album in WalMart. I think Hayley's management has missed out on there opportunity to break into the U S. They blew it on Pure ....they failed to shoot when the ducks were flying.

You didn't know there was a U.S. release? I bought mine at Barnes & Noble!! Paradiso, too! As for Hayley's management, she is not with the same management that she was with at the time of Pure.

Hi Larry,
The last time I saw one of Hayley's CD in any store was over four years ago. Winter Magic is a wonderful album!
Have a great day, Joe

Hi Libby I think you missed my point. I said you could go to a book store and and probably buy her album; but my point was the albums were not on display where the masses shop. I just left Walgreens and at the checkout counter there was a Susan Boyle album. I think until she makes a breakout album of light pop or old standards the chances of success in the U S are nil. Perhaps she's perfectly happy the way things are now. I think she's a success in enough countries that if she had to tour the U S also she'd never have the life she wants. Of course that's bad news for Americans though because hearing her in person is so much better than an album. I also think that Jackie Evancho's success will make it harder for Hayley to get traction here. Sorry Libby, I'm just as unhappy as you are. But who knows what the future will bring. Larry

Well, if Hayley writes most of her own songs on her next album, there could be a lot of "light pop". That's what she tends to write, and they're always very beautiful songs. The exceptions are the Ennio Morricone songs, but that's because only wrote lyrics to already existing songs. I think it was really wonderful she got to write those lyrics, because they are really wonderful lyrics. Malena is such an elegant, romantic song with her lyrics added to it. For this reason, we might see her writing more than just "light pop" on her next album. Something a little folksy, like Summerfly, might be nice too. I also think it would be great if she writes songs that she actually sings in other languages, as she did with On the Wings of Time. Lately I've been imagining her writing a love song in French... I'm sure you can't imagine why I would entertain such a thought. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif But I think it would be really sweet if she did. Larry, if Hayley ever gets to tour here, it's not like she'd have to live here. It would probably be only a few weeks, because she's not going to be touring like CW anytime soon. Heaven forbid, then she'd really never get home. I don't think that Jackie Evancho is hindering Hayley that much. If she wasn't popular, Hayley still might not get as much attention, since she's not a child soprano anymore. And also, she likes Hayley, and sings some of the songs she has, which might actually lead people to Hayley's versions, which are way better.

Libby I so enjoy your positive outlook on things. You have the wonderful ability to put a warm spin on anything related to Hayley. It's very uplifting to read your comments. Keep up the positive outlook on Hayley.

You're welcome. I get that from having a dad who's always been quite negative about things. I have to think of all the positive aspects of things, otherwise life would be way too depressing.

Libby has a very deep point there that is not made enough of. You have to remain positive no matter what. Hayley too I'm sure understands that. There are so many singers these days who perform songs that convey a negative and depressive outlook on life. They do nobody any good. Adopt that and you might as well give up. The human spirit can overcome these things. Hayley's songs and whole life are about the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. She has been through it herself, and come out the other side stronger than ever. Me too, and these days, although I understand and sympathise. That's why I find Hayley such an inspiration. And she can be that to anyone and everyone. Hayley seems to have a very clear vision of what matters in life. Too many others do not, yet they have many followers.

Martin D Very prolific Martin. I have always felt that Hayley knows what she wants out of life and out of her music. Yes, she is prepared to experiment; to let the likes of Maestro Morriconi bring the best out of her, but only Hayley herself knows how she will ultimately use that experience and I admire her so much for that because I believe that that is what helps to keep her grounded and remain the beautiful person she has always been. Best wishes Grant

During my Hayley album searches on the various online stores, I discovered that at Barnes & Noble, Winter Magic is priced just under $3.00!! However, it says that it is "currently unavailable". I'm guessing that's because they ran out (I know they had some during the holidays, because I checked), and haven't rushed to replenish the supply, since it's not an album that would sell very well at any other time besides Christmas. Here's the link in case they get more, and anyone wants to buy it dirt cheap: www.barnesandnoble.com/w/winter-magic-hayley-westenra/18282033?ean=28947822134

Noticing that no one has mentioned this album yet this Christmas, I thought that I would just say again that this is my favourite Christmas album of all time. Every time I get it out to play each December, it gets better and better.
My only one disappointment is that it never contained "Oh Holy Night", my favourite carol ever sung by Hayley. Fortunately, I kept the recording of Hayley at the Christmas concert in Cardiff a few years back at which she sang this carol.

Yes, Martin I must admit I played the CD this morning at 6am (insomnia but lucky I don't live in a flat !) and I'd forgotten how good some of the tracks are, especially the carols. Like you I wish "O holy night" had been on there (had to make do with Faryl's version, though still very good) but I did feel the album ends on a rather downbeat note with that melancholy duet with Ronan Keating, or maybe it just seems that way since most of the album is so joyous ?

That was a good enough reason to buy the Japanese edition UCCL-9061 it has On The Wings Of Time on it as the bonus track which is just wonderfully beautiful.
