Hi Joyce,
Thanks for the hint - a quite reasonable price compared to amazon and hmv. Just ordered.
Hi Grant,
Thanks for the (pre-)review. Unfortunately there'll be obviously no German release, but I'll try to write a review for the import versions at amazon.de in a few days.
Cheers, Karsten

Barnes & Noble now lists Winter Magic, here: music.barnesandnoble.com/Winter-Magic/Hayley-Westenra/e/028947822134/?itm=1Well, no O Holy Night. I guess that shouldn't surprise us, but it does disappoint me greatly. Well, I hope she will put it on another Christmas album in the future. B & N does not list it as an import either. Coincidence? I don't think so. Here's the description of the album that appears both on B&N and Amazon: "Hayley Westenra returns with an all-new album of holiday favorites destined to make the holiday season a little brighter and warmer. The young singer, who has already sold more than four million albums worldwide, brings her pure tone and disarming charm to these evergreen favorites. From the Label"

Hello Libby! I wonder if the reason why Hayley didn't record O Holy Night for this album is that it is on Faryl Smith's new UK album "Wonderland"? www.amazon.co.uk/Wonderland-Faryl-Smith/dp/B002OL2EOI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1256525863&sr=8-2 Both are signed to Decca, who will want both to do well and they would have been aware of what both singers were doing. Decca would probably have had the final say. Even though Faryl's album has a distinctly Christmas or Winter theme (though not entirely), none of the tracks overlap with any of Hayley's. This could be a bit of clever (I hope!) planning by the record company! And I now have no doubt that Winter Magic will have a US release. Cheers, Dave

Okay, I guess I understand the reasoning for leaving out O Holy Night, but I don't see why they couldn't have let Hayley keep it, and Faryl not. I'm sure she'll sing it nicely, but not as good as Hayley.
I'm almost considering purchasing the CD from B & N, because it's slightly cheaper. Who knows about the shipping, though? I'm going to try to wait and see. Are CDs normally cheaper before or after a release?

Under normal conditions, if you care to leave it about six months, Libby (Or possibly just wait for the January sales, if you have such a thing in the US) then the price if CDs usually drops. Unless you're unfortunate enough to be waiting on a rarity or other collectible, but that's unlikely to be the case, here.
Given the state of the economy in the US currently, I'd be surprised if a bit of shopping around a couple of months after release would not net you a cheap copy...

As for Faryl and Hayley not singing any of the same songs - yes, I think that probably is deliberate by Decca. They may not exactly be in competition as such, but the overlap between fans of the two singers is obviously going to be huge, so as a policy it would make sense.
They'll want to maximise sales for both artists, after all.

Hi Jon,
Yes, I too think it will be a low-key release primarily for Hayley's existing fans either directly, or indirectly through her Celtic Woman participation. It will I am sure enter the Billboard Classical Crossover chart but not the Billboard 200 (unless some unexpected media attention occurs in the US).

Jon Depends on whether they market it as a Christmas album or a Hayley album. It stands to do better in the former category, as its placement in stores is more prominent. My local Barnes & Noble will certainly plug it as a holiday treat. They have been very supportive of Hayley, but even more supportive of Christmas CDs.

I think I'm going to see if I can get the CD at the actual B & N store, which is near where I work. So, Steve, have you actually seen Hayley CDs at one of their stores? I'm sure not all stores will have the exact same thing, but what you say is encouraging to me.
As for promoting the album, I'm going to contact some radio stations and ask them to play it. I won't be holding my breath, but I will not let that stop me. I will never give up on attempting to promote Hayley.

Sears.com has it for $10.79, but I'm not sure what their shipping charges are. I am also excited about a U.S. release. I already bought the Japanese version, but I will buy a few of the US versions and use them for stocking stuffers. Maybe convert another Hayley fan in the process...

I'll definitely be getting a couple copies to hand out I have a couple options of where to buy them once they come out. I do have the Japanese version already, but still haven't had time to listen to it! <3 Caitlin

I didn't know Sears sold CDs! B & N had it for 11 or 12 dollars.
