Hayley on Social Media (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook)

Here is my screenshot for you...



The Instagram app is not suited for iPad screens, so the above image is only in the middle third of my screen.  I do not have my iPad set up for email, I cannot see where the email address leads to. 

For me, I take and save a screenshot by pressing the power button and home button together on my iPad.  Most of the time in my photo library I crop out the blank sides of the image and resave it. I use postimages.org to upload my screenshots...I always keep its browser tab open.  There, I “choose the image” from my photo library, tap the copy link button. Lastly I tap the insert image icon to add it to my post. I think I have all this down to about a minute!

My screen looks nothing like your screenshot, Joe. This might be because I'm using a PC.

I see different things to those you describe, Libby. I've used < and > to show what's in each field. Starting at the top of the page, to the right of the circle with Hayley's black and white photo with hand on smiling face, my screen looks like this:

This is the same whether I'm logged in or not.

All very strange, but of no consequence ultimately because I don't plan to use the e-mail button.

Hayley's email button on her instagram appears on my Android phone but not on my PC. As Libby says, it links to the contact email on her original official website, the domain that Decca ran, and which was bought by someone unknown after it was allowed to lapse i.e. hayleywestenra.com.

Therefore, any new emails sent to that email address on her Insta will go to whoever now controls that domain name and its website, if they have set up emails for it. If they haven't, they will probably bounce but either way it's probably not a good idea to have that email address on any of Hayley's social media. Nothing can be done in practice to stop it, other than buying back the domain name.

But can she can control whether the email button is visible on her profile page? Nobody else has that, or nobody that I visited did, even celebrities. I even looked in my account to see if I could add this button if I wanted to. I could not find a way to do so at all. I went to Edit Profile. It has my email address of course, and under Email and SMS, there were things about getting email notifications, but nothing about making your email accessible to other instagram users. Maybe celebrity accounts are different because they might want to be contacted for bookings, or something? But if you're saying her email address won't work, why would she have this? I don't remember ever noticing this on her instagram before, so with a lack of a website, I think she must have added this the last time she edited her profile, which was probably less than a week ago.

I was going to say, but didn't know if I should dredge this up... the email address is the one she used after updating the site a few years ago, post-Bandana management. The email address on her site used to be through Bandana, not Decca, and before that, Bedlam. But, of course, I suppose as you say, the "hayley westenra" domain must still be owned by them... They must have given it to her when she lost her management. But again, I ask, why add the email to instagram at all if it doesn't work? She must know something we don't, I'm just going to guess.

Presumably this is not the same thing as the "Message" button that appears on the PC version of her page. This takes you to a page where you can submit a message. There is also a paper aeroplance like icon that does the same thing. Not that I make much usr of Instagram, I only use it to follow Hayley's posts really.

Well, Martin, on the PC version of her page on Firefox, there's a Message button and an Email button. I said that the Email button is to the right of the Message button.

Hi Libby,

I don't have the email button, only the message button. To the right of the message button on my machine (I use Firefox too), is an unfollow button which is an outline of a person with a tick beside it, then a down arrow button that flips between an array of pictures below to a list of other Instagram accounts I am following, and finally the 3 dots button that allows me to block restrict or report the user. I wonder if the difference is that Hayley is following you! Or perhaps that I don't use this computer for email, so don't have an email client running on it.

Hayley is not following me on instagram, only on Twitter, but neither of us uses it that much. Well, I do use it more than her. She does not follow any of her fans on instagram. Remember, I've scoured her following list a few times, and I look at new follows very regularly.

I don't know why you wouldn't be seeing it. It's there. I don't think it would show up for anybody if it didn't exist. So I'm not imagining it. LOL Remember I did click on it and come up with a new email message showing the email address.

Oh, BTW, two new stories from Hayley! The first one is weird, a spotify artist with a ghost. Lovely. Her caption makes me think she must have watched Finding Nemo or Dori recently. LOL But the second one is a Bowie/Hayley mirror selfie! Check out Bowie's face looking at her phone! I wonder if he can see himself in the mirror through the phone. Because she's pointing the phone at a mirror, so she's essentially taking a photo of herself in the mirror. Not using the function on the camera that shows you a mirror image of yourself. Otherwise we'd be seeing a "regular" selfie, not a mirror selfie. LOL

Hello MartinD!  I am glad that Hayley and Sophie are spending time together!  It is a video story; a screenshot appears below!

You can hear Hayley's voice, giggling a little. When they approach the Yield sign (I think you say "give way" in the UK), it sounded like Hayley said something like there it is. Maybe she was trying to help Sophie get to the proper lane. I wonder if Hayley was worried about it because she's a new driver and might be more conscious/concerned about such things. And in that case, I'm thinking her statement is said somewhat in jest.

Hayley's latest story from a few hours ago is of a record playing a song that I think sounds somewhat familiar to me, or it at least reminds me of a song I've heard before. She tags Sophie, so I think she must be hanging out with Sophie. I think that tower in the cityscape of Hayley's story from yesterday is the one in Auckland.

Going back to the discussion of Hayley's domain... While it's true that someone else seems to have taken it over, the link for the "coming soon" still shows her copyright at the bottom. I have the website in Bookmarks, so I randomly decided to follow it to see what it looks like. It says that the page "doesn't seem to exist". I didn’t receive a notification for Hayley’s new story!  I can see the title of the record is “King Of America” by The Costello Show (fronted by Elvis Costello).  I could not determine what song from the album was being played.
