Oooooppsssssssssssssss I'm getting giddy now ! Must not drop all my marbles at once. They took my wax crayons this morning and gave me this rubber keyboard that rolls up. Shushhhhh !
I'm not allowed have sharp or hard objects, just in case Just curious ! How come Belfast and Dublin are not part of the Winter Magic tour ?

Not long in from Belfast. Hayley was on top form again tonight with the RTE Concert Orchestra. This was my first concert where Hayley has been accompanied by an Orchestra. I wasn't disappointed. First half Hayley came on with her Black and Gold dress (I think), and sang Silent Night, Little Drummer Boy, Ave Maria (Caccini), Veni Veni Emmanuel, Prayer and The Coventry Carol. Inbetween the orchestra played a few numbers including The Wexford Carol and Sleigh Ride (which I really enjoyed). After the interval, Hayley wore her Red Poppy Dress (I'm sure of that one ). Among those she sung were River (shoes came off again!), Gabriel's Message, Little Road To Bethlehem and The Christmas Song. Hayley also sang Pokarekare Ana (to the delight of some Kiwis in the balcony) and Hine e Hine, which sounded beautiful with the orchestra. Definitely a highlight of the evening. Second half, the orchestra played a few more numbers including Carol Of The Bells (this one always reminds me of the Home Alone movie ) and In Dulcio Jubilo. Hayley came back for two encores. First encore Hayley sang Love Came Down At Christmas (although don't quote me on that! ). Second encore Hayley sang O Holy Night. This was a fitting finale to a wonderful evening. This is my favourite Christmas song, and was glad to hear Hayley sing it again. Hayley left the stage to a thoroughly deserved standing ovation. Oh, and some flowers No signing this time, although we did get a few minutes with Hayley in the foyer, where we managed to get a few things signed and photographs taken. I'm sure Karsten and the others will have some later. I didn't see anyone taking photographs during the concert itself, so I think all photography was banned. Nice to meet up with a few familiar faces again in the shape of Comet, Paddy, Joyce, Karsten and Larry (first meeting). Looking forward to much of the same later today in Dublin!

Hi irish hayley fan
Many thanks for your report - it sounds like a wonderful concert with many of the Winter Magic set list included. I can fully imagine Hine with a full orchestra - it reminds me of the DVD! I can also O Holy Night must sound awesome with an orchestra too.
I am pleased that you got to spend a few minutes with Hayley afterwards.
Now I guess as I write this, you will be enjoying the Dublin concert. Looking forward to your report.
Best wishes Mark

Hi Mark, Well, you don't need to imagine what Hine sounds like with a full orchestra any more. I have just uploaded a video of exactly that to YouTube. Have a look at www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbNF1oOd4fUIt starts up with only a few strings and gradually builds up. Don't know why I didn't upload this one before. Hope you like it. I do! Martin

Thanks IHF for your excellent review !! Oh Holy Night has got to be close to my favourite Hymn by Hayley too. She expresses Christ's Lordship so powerfully !! Was a bit disappointed it was not recorded on Winter Magic. But we still have that stunningly beautiful rendition from Xmas 2006 Cardiff. Looking forward to the coming posts !! Thanks Martin. I already had a copy of your clip...very good. Graeme

Hi Irish-Hayley-Fan, Thanks for your excellent review of what sounds like a wonderful concert, glad you've managed to hear Hayley with an orchestra for the first time and got to meet her afterwards! O Holy Night is also a favourite song of mine which must've sounded amazing with a full orchestra. David

Hi, Many thanks to I-H-F for his quick report. I only want to add a few belated remarks, perhaps some repetitions included. After an early start at 2 am GMT I arrived in a cloudy, windy and sometimes rainy Belfast via Frankfurt and Dublin at 1 pm. It was definitely not the right weather to cause any delay for Hayley at the stage door before the concert and so I had a short walk through the city centre and then a rest at the Travellodge just 3 minutes away from the Ulster Hall. Arriving there the sound-check wasn't over and lasted till 19:25, so there was a little delay in case of the time the concert started - scheduled for 19:45. BTW, there was no poster, no flyers, literally nothing which could be seen as an announcement of the concert. As a view into the Hall shows is the stage quite high...

...and so I wasn't unhappy that I had with Paddy and Joyce reserved seats at the balcony at the right hand side of the stage, whilst comet and Larry took their seats in the unreserved stalls. Soon I spotted I-H-F with his partner at the balcony on the opposite site. There was no announcement re the photos and so I took a few during the applause - the view was quite good, but soon a young lady told me that I should take the camera away. So there are only a few pictures from the first half and during the final applause when other people flashed. Sorry for the quality, but this time my choice was limited. During the first half Hayley's dress was navy-blue (seen before e.g. in Swansea or Southend)
