Well, Grant must know by now. Ditto Larry. Perhaps they are commiserating in a pub somewhere in Norwich. I'm sure they will both surface eventually.
And yes, I have tweeted Hayley too, to try to cheer her up. I'm sure she is devastated at having to let people down, and I know she would not have done it if she could have avoided it.
I'm beginning to think she was feeling a lot worse at Bath on Saturday than she let on. We knew before the show that she had a cold, but she hid it well. I thought that at the start of the concert, she did sound as if her nose was a bit blocked, and from time to time she did seem to struggle a bit. I'm sure if you were not used to seeing Hayley you wouldn't have noticed. And I am sure most of the audience did not, not even Grant, who I mentioned it to afterwards. All the same, it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the concert and I'm sure any other singer on the planet would have given anything to be able to perform like that. And I remember how she was last year in Northampton, where she hid it competely despite being quite seriously poorly, and again gave the best performance of Wuthering Heights at the end of the show that I have ever seen. I think she was suffering quite badly at Bath. there was talk of an official signing that didn't happen, and I now feel guilty about hanging around afterwards to see her, when I'm sure she just wanted to go home. But Hayley being Hayley, came out to see us nonetheless, that is the sort of person she is. She complained of feeling cold although it wasn't particularly. All we can do is hope and pray for her speedy recovery. God Bless you Hayley.

Martin(Dn) Hi Martin I was in Bath among with several other HWI members and although Hayley was reported to be feeling bad she performed flawlessly. I remember remarking to another member that Hayley seems to push herself too hard especially in the harsh U K winter weather. It's such a pity. Hayley really seems to enjoy the Christmas Concerts. I wish Hayley a speedy recovery and not a repeat of the 2008 illness. Larry Permit me a tongue in cheek comment. If Hayley were to spend November and December performing in Southern California she would not have to worry about catching cold. Then after her schedule was complete she would just have a short twelve hour flight to Christchurch for her Christmas Holiday. Of course I would represent HWI at all of the California Concerts. Larry

I sincerely hope it was not the damp Irish weather that made Hayley ill. It was cold and damp when Hayley was here in Belfast and Dublin. The weather gets mean here around mid December, enough to drive you to drink I just wish I could hibernate under my duvet until the daffodils come out in spring. It has a bad reputation amongst singers from milder climates. A comment by Nana Mouskouri is HERE

Hi Folks,
This would have been the first concert of the tour that I had booked and was therefore sad to learn from Grant upon meeting him at Norwich station that Hayley had cancelled for health reasons. Thank you Martin for letting him know.
We proceeded to our hotel to see if it was possible to cancel but upon learning of the cancellation charge we decided to stay the night anyway and to look around the city. Upon reaching the cathedral we saw a notice advising of the cancellation and the staff told us that people would be on duty that evening to advise anyone of the situation. Following a walk around the cathedral we ajourned to the refectory for a snack.
It was now mid afternoon and we visited the local information centre to see what was on at the local cinemas, It was here that Grant found a few flyers for the Hayley concert as we had been looking for them in the cathedral and elsewhere. We decided to see the film NATIVITY which was very enjoyable and has Hayley singing over the credits at the end.
By now it was 7pm and in true HWI fashion we visited the local Wetherspoons for a steak dinner. Upon returing to our hotel Grant opened a bottle of wine and we chatted until after midnight.Following a hearty beakfast we parted company at the station with a feeling that we had enjoyed ourselves in spite of the siutuation.
Get well soon Hayley.

Hi Martin Well, Grant must know by now. Ditto Larry. Perhaps they are commiserating in a pub somewhere in Norwich. I'm sure they will both surface eventually. You must have missed a few posts as it has been reported several times that Larry returned to the US on Sunday! I was commiserating with Gordon. there was talk of an official signing that didn't happen, No there wasn't!! I've tried several times to clear this up. Hayley did say words to the effect that she would see us after the concert and some may have read that as "a signing" - your comment infers that Hayley reneged on a commitment which was not the case! Best wishes Grant

Hello everyone
My train was just pulling out of Thetford, the final stop before Norwich, when I received Martin's answer phone message conveying the sad news that the concert had been cancelled (Thank you Martin, I couldn't reply as my battery was low and my 'phone seemed not to have registered your full mobile number). I must admit that it came as a bit of a shock as Hayley had not seemed unduly ill on Saturday although colds do have a habit of 'coming out' rather suddenly when they strike,
I passed on the news to Gordon when we met up at Norwich station but could do little at that late stage other than go to our hotel. I had never expected cancellation to be an option so we decided to make the best of it.
There is, however, no easy way to deal with the anticipation and excitement of an imminent Hayley concert being taken away without warning. It leaves a void that is even harder to fill when you have already seen the show three times and know what a fantastic evening of music you will be missing. That said, my first thoughts were for Hayley and the hope that she will soon 'shake off' whatever is ailing her and quickly regain her full health and vigour.
Gordon and I did recover our evening and we did 'hear' Hayley. Incidentally, if any of you, young or old, are considering going to see "Nativity" DO!! It is a must see film which had me close to tears at times.
And finally.....
There was an Email from Nicola at Bedlam waiting for me when I returned this afternoon which required a reply so I took the opportunity of including the following.
Best wishes Grant
