It Doesn’t Get Better Than This!
During the second encore Hayley had remarked that it was close to bedtime for the young choristers who had sat enthralled throughout Hayley’s performance so perhaps that was why she stopped to sign a few autographs for them. Of course, this led to a general melee which Gianmarco was having trouble convincing should be waiting for Hayley at the other end of the Abbey whilst also ensuring Hayley was not being swamped. Eventually, Kathryn came to assist and dragged (not literally) Hayley to the signing table that had been set out for her.
The position of the tables set out for Hayley and Raven made photography very difficult but I should have managed a few reasonable ones as there was a pretty long queue which Hayley worked happily through, signing and posing for the occasional photo. I’d left Elizabeth being looked after by Steve and Sue as she had a programme for Hayley to sign.
I engineered it that we were the last two to see Hayley and Elizabeth was very happy that Hayley remembered her name. Now it was just Hayley and us with Gianmarco, Kathryn and Nicola packing away the merchandise, very relaxed, all friends together. I had something rather special for Hayley to sign. What she wrote was spontaneous and special “Thanks so much for the continuous support”. That in itself was enough to make me very happy but the best was yet to come. “Are you coming to any more concerts?” she enquired. I proudly rattled off my list of remaining 2009 concerts. She seemed impressed that I had Dublin on my list which allowed me to remind her that during 2009 I have been to concerts in England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
Hayley gave me a very sweet and sincere smile and responded with “It’s always nice to see your face in the audience”. I felt very humbled that someone so special to me and to so many, would say that and clearly mean it sincerely. So there goes yet another night that I will remember for many years to come and one which I hope Hayley will remember too for another reason.
Thank you Hayley for adding your special magic to our day!
Lots of love
