Thanks for the link, Jono! I was slightly puzzled when Hayley said the story was written by somebody from Hastings, but then I realised there is another Hastings in New Zealand: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hastings,_New_Zealand Best Wishes, Richard

Hi all. 1. There is no question this is indeed all Kiwi. 2. No doubt at all that Hayley revelled in fully identifying herself with her homeland, the kid's adventure (after all her family used to camp regularly when she was a kid) must have brought memories flooding back. She clearly fully identified with the teller and brought the whole thing superbly to life. She seemed to be living it as she read. I am sure she fully identified with it--only teasing, Isaac! Superb performance. Peter S.

Yes, thanks from me too! If Ben ever gets to meet Hayley, we know now how she will pronounce his name. Sounded like "Bean" to me, and old nickname of mine. Martin Hope you are not now addressed as Mr Bean? Martin Hi Martin. Well, if I started using that name on the forum at least people wouldn't confuse the two of us. Martin

My email to the website: Hi there,
I'm just wondering when the recording of Hayley Westenra reading the story was made?
Great website BTW. I'm a kiwi, but not a kid anymore
Cheers JonathanAnd the response: Crikey, that would have been a couple of years ago now. the programme has a story writing competition . one story is chosen every week and we try and find some one famous to read it, hayley was at home and in oiur studios that day and said yes. Really nice too, nothing was a problem, and not a bad story teller.. kind of makes me proud to be a kiwi knowing some one like her is out there representing us.
regards
ronnie So it sounds like it was somewhere between the "Pure days" and now. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hi Jono
That was an excellent response you got from Ronnie and typical of Hayley to be so obliging. I would think with a bit of research we could pinpoint the actual studio session.
It may only be a couple of years ago. I know how easy it is to get an accent back when you're home for a while.
Best wishes Grant

Hi everyone, My guess is it was probably done when Hayley was here promoting her second book “In Her Own Voice” when, if I remember rightly she did quite a lengthy radio interview on Radio NZ's National program. This station has from time to time guest storyteller's as they have a daily story time for children at different times of the day depending on the age-group that are being entertained at the time.
So, if anybody can remember the time when Hayley's second publication was released (book) then that would narrow it down as to when the program was made.
cheers,
Rodders CH CH NZ
