Hi Ben, You are in for a real treat when those CDs arrive. They are fantastic!! Bill Yeah I can't wait!!! I ordered HSJS 1 from Amazon, and HSJS 2 from CDJapan - I have an issue with CDJapan though, because I have a suspicion they have charged me double...or it might be paypal... My day: Why is it that as soon as my team day starts the weather becomes miserable?? Biking out orders at 7 in the morning in cold rain is not the best conditions to be getting over a nose operation Unfortunately, the employee who gives me a hard time worked today - darn I seem to 'attract' the taunts. Ah well, I was given the task of pressure washing all the bikes when they come back, all lagged in mud. Getting told you are a good washer is a nice thing to hear - it cheered me up! Washing the bikes gives me power as well because if you stop, the whole process of washing, oiling and returning the bikes to the main store crumbles and slows - I like power! haha I got some discount road tyres for my mountain bike as well, which was good - £9 for 2 tyres at trade price when they retail at £12.99 each - I don't think using mud tyres around Birmingham would look right... Ah well, 7.30 start tomorrow, an extra half an hour in bed Cheers folks! Ben

Hi all,
I wanted to tell you about my work. I work in a mail-order processing center and I've been with them for ten years. The facility is a clearinghouse for about a dozen different catalog companies. These are mostly women's cIothing. My department is halved and we handle eight companies. I am responsible for four of them (PM me for what they are)...I have to count and open the pieces of mail, separate the orders and checks and batch them up. Then the orders have to be entered into the system. Now, my general work title is data entry analyst...basically that's trying to figure out what product, size, color, quantity, postal address the customer has written. You should see the awful state of some of these orders!! The system keeps track on how long it takes to enter a batch...usually 15 minutes but can take twice as long if you have to look up a size etc.
When those four companies are done, we will see if the other half of the dept. need help with their batches. Then we can work on orders from two catalogs that have their orders outsourced. Each company has a different system and are different. One might have the size entered first then the color, etc. or different size abbreviations. They are working on having a set system which will be loads easier. This week has been really slow and not much work has been coming in. Just a few weeks ago my group lead stepped down. So the office manager has taken over.
That's about it then!
Cheers, Joe

Hi folks! This week has been hectic - the busiest week of the year by far! (and I worked every single day of it!). Most of the days I worked a 12 hour shift, but I did a 14 hour shift on Tuesday - 7am until 9pm!! . Today wasn't so bad, even though we were clean out of bikes - we didn't have queue's all day like we had all week. This was probably mainly due to it being Saturday, and a 'changeover' day for most. Also, I had a much more respectable shift of only 9 hours, meaning I could have a bit of a lie in. Its good living by the Camel Trail, because it means I can cycle to work (weather permitting!) and enjoy the freshness and calm of the early morning (I counted at least 20 rabbits on the way!). The tide was in as well, and the sun shining gently over the perfectly smooth water surface created a wonderful atmosphere to listen to HSJS all the way to work! Bliss! Cheers! Ben P.S My last shift as an 18 year old!

Hi folks Finally, the end of the summer season is here! 6 weeks of early morning starts and late evening finishes are finally over! The boss had quite a good summer methinks . I can't wait until Friday - the boss buys all of us a meal and drinks at a good ol' English pub and we then go out for a night on the town. I'l have to pace myself because I am off up to Birmingham in a few days as well to pick up my keys for my uni accommodation! Can't wait! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAh well, the next time I will be handing out bikes is next summer! In the mean time, I will be having a blast up in Birmingham. Incidentally, does anyone on this forum live in Birmingham or the surrounding area? Cheers! Ben

A day at work has changed a lot for me since the crash in the economy, I am a self employed sign writer / sign maker and I am doing less than 10% of the business that I was doing two years ago, which in reality means I have taken a 90% cut in my income.. Ouch ! I'm not too worried about it, yet ! as I managed to save a bit while things were going well. But the good side of it is: I have a lot of free time to do some work around the house which has been sadly neglected over the last few years as we were busy raising our kids. I can also re organise my CD collection which is scattered in piles all over the house. I have more free time to read and listen to music and chat with neighbours who all of a sudden seem to have all the time in the world, as they are not so busy either, The pace of life has slowed dramatically and I am quite enjoying it.. Oh ! and I can get more time to read these forums

Hi Comet Sorry to hear about your circumstances but the recession will end eventually. Hope it hasn't dented your Hayleybudget too much? Best wishes Martin

Hi folks My last day at work today! The weather in Wadebridge, Cornwall was amazing. A completely cloudless day. We had 120 bikes out today. Even though the summer season is over, there are still a few tourists around - better for them, bcause they are getting better weather in September than ever occurred in August! Now that so many of the senior employees are leaving for university, the boss is in dire need for new workers - its a struggle to find even 5 people to work on a week day, because most of our workers are at school or Sixt Form - so new people are needing to be trained PRONTO! I will be back to work in the Christmas period, so up until then I will be having an amazing time at uni, meeting new people (HWI members included!) Cheers Ben
