Will Hayley eventually become an icon in her genre and maybe even beyond that? She certainly has the impossibly rare credentials to spawn such a perception. Take this poll and imagine, if you will, Hayley as a future icon. Let's get your early impressions on this intriguing possibility.

Hi Steve,
I voted 'Not Sure'. I think my problems begin in even nominating a genre that Hayley is a part of! She seems to swing between Classical, Folk and Pop.
I definitely think that if Hayley found a niche that really suited her and stuck to it, she could become an icon. But so much is up to chance and fate. One of Hayley's songs could be chosen in a famous film next year and everything could change.... or something else could happen...
Regardless of which way the wind blows, she's definitely an icon in my own personal music world!

I voted the top option... I believe it to be very likely (I may have a little optimism and bias in my reasoning, but not completely!) I like how your bottom option is forgetaboutit...one word... that's the cliche Italian American word right??

She should be, but I'm not really sure I know the exact definition of an "icon", so I don't really know how to answer that. I chose the 2nd to last answer.

I think she could become an important icon because she has made classical/classical crossover music more accessible to a younger audience - me being one of them!

Hey Ben, many crossover artists have done that, and Hayley was nowhere near the first, though she definitely came before the floodgates of crossover artists opened!
I voted it's too early to consider. She has a lot more growing and exploring to do. She may get to a point, stick there, and make no cultural impact whatsoever, but then again, she may go on and do all kind of things. At the moment, Hayley is not doing anything different enough to earn 'icon status'. But you never know, all it could take is one performance. Think Pavorotti and Nessun Dorma at the world cup!

Hi Nicola
Yeah I agree - she is still only 22 years old as well!
For people to even consider her a possible future icon at this age shows she must be doing something right!
Cheers
Ben
