I'm not sure if this is the place, but here goes. With A New Year started and New Years Resolutions for many, it made me think about the lists of things I've still wanting to do (My Bucket List) and I wondered if others here had given any thought about it. Over 12 months ago I marked one item of my list when I got to meet Hayley I hope that others here get the chance to complete their lists and It would be interesting to hear from anyone to has Items on my lists are: Travel to Australia & New Zealand Meeting my Favourite Singers/Actors To make a difference to the lives of others -To do something kind whether it be big or small I believe will make a difference to others. To live life to the full & be the best I can be! Dean

Hi Dean,
That sounds like a good list of resolutions! Especially the 'living life to the full' bit and making a difference in the lives of others.
My immediate goals for this year mainly centre around getting my career off the ground. However, all things going to plan, 2011 is the year that I'm excited about. I think by that time I'll have some money saved up and I'm thinking of travelling. Either UK or France (or both?).

I found something while looking for my Pay It Forward thread on the old Blue Official Forum ( The one that closed for new posts on the 15th July 2008) 42 people have "Registered" on the old forum since January 1st 2010. This is a inactive Read Only forum ..... Just weird

Great list Dean. I think I might borrow a couple of yours!
My intermediate list is much like Jillian's though. To get settled into working life, and to Travel - I'd like to tick off the UK and USA in the next couple of years.

Well, I once used to think that once i got my career going I would be able to travel more. I don't want to dampen anyone's enthusiam, but it didn'y work out like that.
I, like Dean, would like to see New Zealand, I would llaso like to go back up to Northern Scandinavia, and see more of Australia, but I think I would need at least a couple of months to do justice to any one of those. But, being at work, there is no way I can ever get two months off in one chunk. Three weeks is about the limit, so that limits how far it is worth travelling.
Reminds me of a friend of my borther's who he used to work with. One day he told his colleagues that he would like to see America. Next day he didn't turn up for work. Nor did he turn up for the next six weeks. He had indeed gone to America. When he did turn up, he found he no longer had a job!
I now look forward to being retired, so that my travel plans are not limited by how much time I can get off work.

Hi everyone,
I have a brand new pet budgie! It used to be owned by a friend of mine (who got it second hand from someone else). I've never had a proper pet before, so this is quite exciting!
Apparently it likes listening to music, so I played it some Celtic Treasure before I put it to 'bed' (ie put the cover on the cage).
Does anyone else here have a budgie? Any tips for looking after one?
Jillian

Try Hayley's Listen to the Wind from the New World soundtrack with the budgie, I had various tracks with birdsong on them which gave a budgie we were minding occasionally a great incentive to eat his birdseed, I tried planting the birdseed, never got any birds though

Tips: fresh air, cleanliness, love & attention, exercise (flying round the room), food ( ), cuttlefish bone (beak), a friend (not essential). You can tell your budgie everything & they'll listen with great empathy. They're very easy to love so look after them. They're not easy to lose. Hope that helps, Graeme

Hi folks I'm sorry for diverting the topic from animals, but I was wondering if anyone could help me - when I got back to my student flat I found that my internet didn't work. When I plugged in the net work cable to the wall, my computer recognised that I was connected to a network, but every time I tried to open a web-page it says 'cannot display web-page'. The computer tells me I'm connected by displaying 2 monitor icons in the lower right hand corner of the screen (I'm using Windows Media Centre Edition by the way) I phoned up the internet provider for the accommodation but they dont know whats wrong with it! When I right click the screen icon, I found that there was no IP address, so I'm mystified as to what the problem could be! Anyone got any ideas?? Cheers Ben BTW I posted this message on my mates' computer if your wondering how I did! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hi Ben,
I'm a bit out of my element here, being a Mac person, but does you computer get its IP address via DHCP or is it a static IP? It sounds like your network settings may have been changed.

Hi Ben
I'm sure there are many people on here with far more knowledge than I but it sounds like a modem problem. Try unplugging everything and then reconnect it all.
Hope that works!
Best wishes Grant

hmm... I am studying Computer Engineering, but don't know too much about Internet or networking yet... Yet, I may help you with the first thing to check, that is have you got internet connectivity or only network connectivity... Windows Vista or somethng else? In the first case, it's easy to ckeck.
If you got internet connectivity, in the same icon of the two monitors should appear a small blue symbol. If it doesn't, try clicking (or right clicking) on it and then on something called like "Network and shared resources centre". If you don't have internet connectivity, it will be stated there as "Access: only local" and there will be an "x" between the network symbol and the internet symbol. If you click on that "x", the system will try to find the problem and solve it though possibly it won't be successful, but at least you've tried and it may give you a hint on where's the problem.
If you have an Operating System different from Vista, there should be similar a way to check the Internet connectivitty, look around for it. And, if it appears that you actually have internet connectivity, well, then the problem is maybe on the modem settings or browser settings.
Well, I am not very useful, I know, hope someone else can help you better.
Michal
P.S. LOL, yes, Grant, restarting everything is one of the most useful things to solve computer problems.
