The Boss was brilliant. They played just over 3 hours non stop. Not bad for being 67.

Yes the North Island is about to be hit tonight. And some parts are still recovering from last weeks storm ( Same one that caused floods in Australia ). On Friday morning it will be near Christchurch but it is only going to drop 60 to 80mm of rain. Up North it could be up to 300mm.

Wow, that's a huge difference! Well, stay dry, anyway. We are currently experiencing more rain than usual this time of year, but at least it's rarely so much all at once as to cause flooding except in a few spots here and there. However, a couple of years ago there was a deadly landslide in Northeast WA that crushed many homes. And currently there is a gradual landslide happening which has caused an evacuation in the same area as before, and the road is blocked off. No one's taking chances this time.

Well, it always balances out. Usually when it is cold in Easter USA, it is warm in UK and vice-verso. According to my weather station, rainfall for the first 10 days of April was 7% of average...

300mm is considerably more than I've had for all of this year to date! Dave

We do get sudden, heavy downpours, but they're usually just passing storms, and the rest is just plain rain. LOL I notice that Seattle's temps are often quite similar to the UK's (worldwide temps. are posted on the back of the Seattle Times). London is usually around the same as ours, though sometimes higher, sometimes lower. Not always, though! Lately it's been a bit balmier and sunnier in the UK lately than Seattle. I can tell by some of your pics of spring flowers and such, and of course Hayley's own pic of spring flowering trees and sun.

Well the worst is over. The storm wasn't as bad as forecast as it moved very fast so the rainfall was not too bad. But some areas got hit by high winds.

Sent from my SM-G900I using proboards That sounds a little like our "big" windstorm we were supposed to have, maybe back in November. All we got were a few big gusts along with some slanted, driving rain, but it didn't last very long at all! But, as with you, some areas, usually northwestenrn WA, always gets worse wind, rain, and snow than we do. Though, recently there was a very strong windstorm "down south" in Oregon. Our wind was somewhat strong, too. It's not fun to walk outside in the wind, and there's always some concern of power outages, but there weren't any.

The Bay of Plenty area got about 200mm of rain and that is on top of about 250mm they got last week. In that storm part of the stopbank on the river through Edgecombe burst and seriously flooded the town.

I didn't fully realize how much 300mm of rain was (not being overly-familiar with the metric system, which most average Americans aren't; don't blame us, it's not our fault we weren't taught). I found out it's about a foot, 12 inches of rain. That's a lot. Seattle NEVER gets that much all at once! And people think Seattle isn't a nice place to live because of its raininess! Ha, I can think of a lot worse places, as far as weather goes, to live besides Seattle! No hurricanes, no tornadoes (a very rare occurrence, though some tiny ones have happened recently), no blizzards, no monsoons, very few huge floods, despite all the rain, and no wildfires (they do get some in central/Eastern WA in summer sometimes, though).
