Hello Richard, Bill, Jono and everyone Grant's last message about getting serious really struck a chord with me as this has really affected my life since Hayley was in 31st place. I got involved in supporting Hayley because I know a great singer when I hear one. I'm equally impressed with all of you (and those on the Decca forum too) - Her Fans!! I salute you for all of your amazing extra efforts!! I think it affected us all a lot more than we realised at the time. I've actually been feeling quite emotional since writing my 'serious' message and I think Bill's comment below is very apt. It was incredible to observe people from all over the world, with very different backgrounds, come together in this effort. I think we would all agree that the core motivation behind our efforts was not necessarily to win the big prize but a desire to express the respect we have for Hayley. Respect, not just for her tremendous talent, but for the person that she is.
Thanks for allowing me to go along on the Quest. I've never known a group of people so motivated as those supporting Hayley through this forum. I'm immensely proud to be a part of it. As for your final comment Bill - couldn't have done it without you - couldn't have done it without everyone that took part. Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant,
Yes, although I didn't say so at the time, I could echo every word of your "serious" message. Thanks for posting it.
I have always said that once Hayley's music gets to you, you will never be the same again. I wasn't, I know you weren't, and nor were countless other people. Hayley again as I have said before, is either nothing to you or the best singer you have ever heard. There is no middle ground. I have never heard anyone say they thought Hayley was "quite good" or even "above average", she is either the best or she is nothing. And for me she is without doubt the best I've ever heard. Third? She really ought to be first.
And somehow she inspires fanaticism among her fans. You and I and many others were quite happy to sit in pouring rain at Beaumanor to hear Hayley sing. We really didn't care. For a lesser artist we might have run for cover, but nobody did that at Beaumanor. That is a measure of the artist that Hayley is. Others were prepared to drive around with laptops, or visit internet cafes at their own expense, to stay up late or all night, to risk the wrath of their bosses at work, just to support Hayley. And some of those have never even seen her perform live or met her, as you and I have. What does that tell you about her potential.
Hayley has her own magic ingredient. Beauty. She is injecting beauty into an ugly world, something that lots of people are crying out for. Hayley can make you forget everything for a while, your financial worries, our corrupt politicians, the world's injustice, you name it. I seriously cannot believe that she can now fail to become one of the greatest recording artists of all time. The western media have been trying to keep the lid on her, she doesn't fit with their ethos. But I am sure she will win in the end. And she has a lot of friends, this result is the proof of that.

Well put Martin and Grant. I would sit through a hurricane or a blizzard to watch Hayley. She's the best there is.

Hi Grant, I think you serious comments were on the money. I was so touched how all of us from all over the world came together to show our appreciation for our beloved Hayley. I had two computers going and when my plus signs wouldn't show up it was great that someone else picked up the slack. I think this fun exercise shows how all types of people in the world can come together for a common cause. Congratulations to all of you for a great job. It really shows the universal appeal Hayley has to all peoples of the world. It makes me feel real good.

Hi Martin, Larry and everyone Many thanks for your very poignant comments. I am always moved by the way members of this forum pull together as one and support each other as well as our beloved Hayley. I feel that we'll look back on "The Quest" as Bill refers to it, and realise that we and this forum are stronger because of it. I don't know any other artist that can have the effect that Hayley does. Martins observation that Hayley can change lives is proved beyond doubt, we're living proof of that but hey! I think I'm drifting off topic! This thread speaks for itself. It currently has 99 pages containing 1474 posts and has been viewed 17,578* times. Now it seems strange. I settled down this evening for a couple of hours of uninterupted TV and a few glasses of wine, but at the first advert break, I'm halfway upstairs to vote before I remembered that the competition had ended! Wonder what we'll do next? Best wishes Grant * Edit: Whilst I was writing this post, the thread was viewed another 8 times.

I really enjoy the comments on this forum and I feel like we've all drawn closer as a result of this month long marathon. And, just to let you know, at the pace of the last couple of days we would have passed both Alizee and Lorena if the contest had kept going! If you look at the numbers you'll see that both Pink and Hayley were getting votes at a faster clip than the others at the end, and we were passing Pink. That is a real tribute to both Hayley and her fans! And shows in reality she is #1.

Just so everyone knows, Pink fans are still ignorant about her coming fourth.

But I just let them know. EDIT: Hmm, looking around... her forum is not that active. Might not get a reaction from them. I would link the page to you, but it contains foul language. :/

Hi Nicola Just so everyone knows, Pink fans are still ignorant about her coming fourth. That is unbelievable. There must have been some fans up and voting when the comp. ended. They obviously weren't paying attention to what was happening around them and it cost them a place ... well, that and our dedication! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes Grant

Then suddenly the tide changes and we were really getting beaten badly. The vote count difference went their way by 40+ votes in the time span of maybe 5 minutes. Then just as quickly, it stopped. I made the comment at the time that it looked like they all went to sleep. Then for the next few hours they added very few additional votes. Bill

Hello everyone
I've just looked back over the first couple of pages of this thread and I think the following predictions by Richard (umusic Forum) on 5th July is worth repeating now.
Oh how things can change with a little effort!
Best wishes Grant

Hi all, (Martin, Grant, Larry, Bill, Ross, Richard, Nicola, Dave, etc!!) Excellent comments/ reflections all around! Martin, your observation that Hayley changes lives explains many things! I recently made a post (which was moved to the chat thread), which basically said that I think I am an "Obsessed Fan" of Hayley and her music and genuinely want her to succeed...which is something I have never experienced with any other artist. And I also mentioned that I think many members on here are also "obsessed fans", probably more-so than myself. I actually didn't receive a reply to my post, so I guess I could assume it wasn't taken very lightly! Of course I meant a "healthy obsession", I was not referring to the kind which rules peoples minds and turns them crazy!! Though I guess there is a fine line...like Ross mentioned, "aliens looking down on us probably think we are crazy", but I know he meant that in a good way! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAnyway, back to the point. Martin said that Hayley changes lives...and also mentioned that she either has that (HAYLEYWOWED) effect on you, or doesn't have any effect. I think that is a perfect explanation for the obsession! Looking forward to seeing the fruit of our labors go up! (The Wall) Jono

Grant - You're right. Predictions, though accurate based on previous information, are always subject to improvement. We all learned how to rack up even more votes - especially in the last day when the problems hit! I hope nobody missed my last comment about how our run rate would have beaten everyone in the competition including positions #2 & #1, given enough time. And it wasn't based just on numbers of fans but the consistency and loyalty of the fans.

Not wanting to sound too suspicious but has anyone thought about why the organizers of these contests bothered to run them? I went to www.mallspace.com which is the second level domain of twitterwall. mallspace.com to find that they are promoting the fact that they had 6.6 million page views in July. Can someone with more knowledge of the web than I have advise if a second level domain can claim the traffic of the third level domain below it? If so then the whole reason behind this competition may be to increase the traffic that mallspace.com can claim thus increasing the value of advertising and helping them to convince more shops to join.
