I'd like to hear more to - but have seen so many hopefuls come and go. To be a performer takes more than just a good voice, Hayley certainly has that extra ingredient that all these hopefuls are searching for. Stuart

i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Just saw the Holly Steel video and what a great voice she has. I laughed when she started dancing and Simon was just about to buzz her then she started to sing and he realized she had a great voice. This years contest is looking to be a hard one to choose a winner.

It is interesting that Hollie Steel followed exactly the same formula as Susan Boyle. Make the audience feel they are watching something else that is mediocre and then start to sing which they are not expecting. With both having a great voice it was a winning strategy Graham

With all due respect to Susan Boyle, I dare say she now takes a back seat to 10-year-old Hollie Steel who wowed the judges with her purer-than-pure soprano voice -- the likes of which haven't been heard since Hayley Westenra and Becky Taylor were that age. Give her a listen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOeWz2k4tTI&feature=featuredI predict Hollie will be as successful as Hayley in due course. Thank you for the link Steve. I don't know if 10-year-old Hollie Steel has wowed the judges (because I don't believe it's really the first time they are seeing her performance), but she definitely wowed me! The video has already almost 2 thousand hits on Youtube in 2 days, strange is many people on Youtube now speaking about manipulation, but they didn't mention it about Susan Boyle! At least with Hollie I see a reason for the world to be wowed, the world hysteria about Miss Boyle I think it's absurd! Best wishes, Paulo Correia

Yeah, Susan is good, but they make it seem like she's the most amazing singer in the world. True, she has a great voice, but I've really gotten sick of hearing about it.
It may not be a surprise for the judges; all of their dramatization of the camera shots makes it less believable. At least the TV audience won't know what to expect, so at least some people are surprised.

More like 2 million hits and climbing! I think Susan Boyle piqued a ton of interest in this year's contest such that Hollie is benefitting enormously from the frenzy whilst Ms. Boyle is verging on overexposure. Hollie to win it all is my guess.

I don't know where all the viewers are, because when I click on Steve's link it says "This video is not available in your country." The one I posted has been viewed over 4,400 times. Richard

Hi Jeff and everyone I think Susan is getting sick of it as well. One paper I saw yesterday said she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Poor woman but that's Simon Cowell for you. Sadly, I think we all saw that coming - it would be too much for most people once the initial adrenalin rush subsides. Time they gave the poor woman a break! Best wishes Grant

Couldn't agree more, Grant. She is overhyped and overwrought.

I never actually watch these shows. Don't like the whole 'cattle market' aspect. I figure the press always pick up on the best people anyway, and so it proves. Paul Potts in the first year, Faryl Smith in the second and now Susan. While Susan tries a bit too hard to prove she can sing right at the start, she soon settles into what has to be one of the most mesmerising performances I've ever seen. She doesn't just sing the song, she lives it.
Of course, it's only one song, but if she can bring that amount of feeling to other songs too, she'll be everything the hype makes her out to be.
She isn't the best technical singer, but music isn't about technical brilliance. It's about evoking feeling and that she does extremely well.
I'll be following her with extreme interest, certain winner or not.
