But the off-topicness has gone a bit too far off topic now so if anyone wants to continue discussing American music or sport versus elsewhere, I'd prefer it to be done in a new thread in... Off Topic! At the risk of repeating myself, let's get back to Abba/Hayley sings Abba please, in this thread. I have moved most of the posts that are primarily about Brandi Carlile and the reason she was first mentioned, to a new thread in Other Music. That too was drifting off topic even for her, so please let's try to keep both of these threads on topic now! click to continue in the new Brandi Carlile threadI hope the two threads still manage to make sense, it wasn't easy to do the split! Cheers, Dave

"imatiger" a member who often pops in to Hayley Chat has posted this old Agnetha recording in Swedish of : I don't know how to love him from Jesus Christ SuperstarAgnetha Faltskog - I Don`t Know How To Love Him ( from `Jesus Christ Superstar` ) Just in case the link has to go, I doubt a 1972 single is still commercially available. Look at the number of singles Agnetha had released even before ABBA. Now there's a song for Hayley..

Speaking of Agnetha, which we were (9 months ago!) I have recently managed to acquire the hard-to-find DVD "Abba - The Definitive Collection" which contains 30 of their videos - many more than the more common Abba Gold. It includes at the end their final recording before the break-up: "The Day Before You Came", which hints in more way than one about what was to come professionally and was already happening personally. This is Abba's saddest song and for me, with its haunting music and enigmatic lyrics, is the finest they ever released. Agnetha acts in the video to her own lead vocals, Frida is the backing singer and sounds beautifully operatic at times. At the end, the music and video just fades slowly away... as did Abba way back in 1982, as a recording group. [Official VEVO channel] Mind you, the following one from near the beginning of their career ain't so bad either! [HWI Channel] Cheers, Dave

[HWI Channel] Cheers, Dave I was thinking about this video lately, what with all of the Swedish connections with Hayley lately, but alas, it's gone.

I was thinking about this video lately, what with all of the Swedish connections with Hayley lately, but alas, it's gone. Hi Libby, Thanks for pointing this out, I don't have the time to check all the videos regularly for this kind of thing and Youtube only tell me about copyright strikes, not geographic blocks (Worldwide) as in this case. It's NHK Japan again... they are the most aggressive company out there on copyright, and I tried to remove everything from them a few years ago, but there is no obvious NHK material at all in this video! They claim that they own the content from 2:36 to 3:22 (SOS), which is an extract from an Abba concert played after the Hayley segments have finished but there is no way of verifying if their claim is correct, a mistake, or mischievous and I'm certainly not going to argue with them or any big corporation so I'll delete the video (which is still there for me to see but nobody else). Youtube is full of Abba singing SOS, our video wasn't even publicly viewable - you had to know the link - so 'aggressive' is an understatement. However... I have a plan "B", I can either remove or replace the bits they claim are theirs, and reupload the video in some form or other before too long. I may even make it longer than before. Cheers, Dave

Cheers, Dave Sounds good to me! Hi Libby, The deed is done. I have replaced the so-called NHK Japan content by a shorter extract from the official Abba video and reuploaded it. I have also made it publicly available for the first time (well done NHK ) and the only claim so far is from Universal Music, which is correct (but is blocked in Germany and on some mobile devices). I could argue fair dealing/fair use but UMG have been good to us over the years so I won't. As for NHK, the least said the better. I took the opportunity to go back to my original recording and re-encode it at a higher quality, I think it's not bad at all for a 10 year old video! Here you go... Cheers, Dave
