As there appears to be many Abba fans on this forum (including me) I think we should record for Hayley the hit "Thank you for the Music" as a tribute. Ah! Wait a minute though - if you heard me sing then Hayley definitely wouldn't thank us for the music. Martin I wonder if we had similar experiences at school, Martin? At Shrewsbury (I think it was) we (or some of them) did a small video take with Hayley singing a couple of carol verses. I declined to be involved as I was not even prepared to mouth the words in Hayley's presence, despite the fact that at school, the Director.of Music had said that I had the most extraordinary voice he had ever heard! Then went on to add, 'Not only can you put the entire school choir out of tune but the chapel organ as well!' Mercifully I have the ears to appreciate someone else singing when they can, such as Hayley! Peter S.

I recently saw this video and I really like Hayley's version of S.O.S. But it was obviously too short Any chance of seeing one day the whole performance? Hi Stephany, I have always loved ABBA (grew up with it), and Hayley does a great job... all she is missing is that cool Swedish accent that Agnetha F. has when she sings it Peter T.

Hello folks! Gerrit's clip is no longer available, but I've found this video which features Hayley singing "S.O.S." accompanied by Ian Tilley on the piano: www.tudou.com/programs/view/Ycn-74cIsR4/Dave, would it be possible to upload it to our YouTube channel, please? Richard

Hi Richard, Whatever made you think of this, after all this time? I can't view the video you linked to but it's probably just a copy of the one I uploaded for Gerrit, at the time I think Simon was unable to host any new videos on the main website so Gerrit helped out. I have a copy of all Gerrit's old website videos but I also have a better quality original. Not sure where to upload it yet - On Youtube it will attract unfavourable comparisons with Abba's original from the usual suspects and Abba fans. Perhaps one of those Direct Link ones that I sometimes do, for interviews etc. Hayley only sings a few bars uninterrupted, the rest is heard behind voice-overs. I'll upload it *somewhere* though so watch this space. Cheers, Dave

Ah yes, of course, I read the two threads in the wrong order! Still can't view that link though but yes I will upload the original somewhere, later. EDIT Managed to view it at the 4th attempt, yes it's the video from Gerrit's site that I recorded originally. My upload will be higher quality than that one, Internet video has advanced in the last 8 years. Cheers, Dave

Hi everyone, Here is the video, I've uploaded a slightly re-edited version at higher quality than back in 2005 (I always keep original recordings) but of course, Hayley only appears and sings in the first half of the video, which concludes with part of Abba's original video. Hayley Westenra - part of Abba's SOSThe Youtube link is currently unlisted so you need the link to view it. I might be persuadable to make it public, we shall see. I will add it to our website in a day or two but haven't decided whether to date it 2005 or 2013! Cheers, Dave

Thanks Dave! That tudou.com website is always very temperamental, probably because it relies on connections via China. A success rate of one in four is about par for the course. Richard

I've never heard the song before, but I enjoyed it, and I think Hayley sounded great singing it.

I've never heard the song before, but I enjoyed it, and I think Hayley sounded great singing it. I am amazed that you are not familiar with ABBA's songs like SOS. I think you have a wonderful treat in store, Get yourself a copy of their greatest hits, preferably on DVD and watch them sing, (Watching videos and listening to music while seated at a computer just ain't right) Maybe you will understand why they captured the hearts of millions of people all over the world...They were brilliant. Have a look at Fernando on YouTube, the video is a bit dated now but the voices will be part of music history forever. I bought each of their singles as they were released and entered the UK chart, Their last single while they were still active was only available on 12" vinyl at the time of it's release, I think we knew at the time it was to be their last single, ABBA had broken up, disintegrated completely. What a great loss to music lovers everywhere.

It's surprising to see how similar and alike Hayley's voice is to Agnetha's when they played Agnetha singing the first few lines! Try this, play both one after the other, it's quite impressive. Those who say Hayley never sang with emotion should see this video. I hope she sings more like this these days.
