Des and Mel's daily magazine programme will include "music from Hayley Westenra" on Thursday 8th December.... except they couldn't spell her name right! If she is interviewed, let's hope they don't bring up the same old questions about CC (who is the guest on the previous day). If you have any questions for any of the guests throughout the week, you can email them to desandmel@itv.com Roger

Thanks for that Roger. Are you familiar with the format of Des and Mel? I'm not... but it only says "music from Hayley Westenra" with Kelly Holmes as the chat guest. Much the same for Charlotte the day before, so hopefully they can't ask any Charlotte questions!
I've just realised, Hayley has a little burst of TV appearances between now and the year end so perhaps there is some hope for a mini-revival in the fortunes of Odyssey in the UK? Unfortunately, it's all come too late to make a huge difference but it would be nice to see it climb in the charts one week instead of dropping week after week.
I will, of course, record and digitise Hayley's performance (l hope it isn't just a repeat of WYNK from earlier in the year).
Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave, I wouldn't say I was familiar with the format having only ever seen it once, and that was when Hayley was on it! However, I am told that it is a typical magazine programme with chat and one musical interlude. I doubt if it would be a repeat of WYNK becaise I believe it is boradcast live. As you say, Hayley does have a little burst of television appearances coming up. I am aware of four (this one, Lincoln, Norwich and Oliver), plus the Classic FM interview. Do you know of any others? Roger

Hello Roger and Dave! I know about another TV appearance by Hayley on Christmas Day, thanks to the HWI main site. MUSIC: Christmas ManiaChannel: ITV2 Date: Sunday 25th December 2005 Time: 19:00 to 20:00 - Duration: 1 hour Donny Osmond presents some of the brightest stars from the world of music, in a celebration of Christmas with fresh interpretations of classic festive songs. With Jamie Cullum, Katie Melua, Ronan Keating and Janet Ramus, Il Divo, Westlife, Clare Teal, Roy Wood and Hayley Westenra. Excerpt taken from DigiGuide - the world's best TV guide available from Copyright GipsyMedia Ltd. --------------------------------------- Unfortunately this programme isn't available to old-fashioned types like me who point a coat-hanger towards Crystal Palace, so I hope somebody will capture Hayley's performance for the forum! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifMany thanks in advance, Richard

I also saw this mentioned in Digiguide a couple of weeks ago but I didn't mention it because I remembered that some of the guests appeared on last year's show (Donny Osmond, Katie Melua, Jamie Cullum, Hayley) so I thought it might be a mistake by Digiguide. Well now, Digiguide have changed it to this: MUSIC: Christmas Mania 2005 Channel: ITV2 Date: Sunday 25th December 2005 Time: 19:00 to 20:00 (starting in 20 days) Duration: 1 hour.
Girls Aloud present some of the brightest stars from the world of music in a celebration of Christmas, with fresh interpretations of classic festive songs. With performances from the girls themselves, Liz McClarnon, Freefaller, Il Divo, Lee Ryan, The Choirboys... and GMTV presenters Kate Garraway, Andrew Castle, Andrea McLean and Richard Arnold. Plus contributions from Frankie Dettori, Antony Costa, Nikki Sanderson, Danny Young, Timmy Mallett and Nicholas Parsons. (Shown yesterday on ITV1, Subtitles)
Excerpt taken from DigiGuide ...which is completely different. As I haven't been able to confirm Hayley's appearance from any other source, I am assuming it was a mistake but at the ,moment, I cannot prove it. Notice the "shown yesterday on ITV1 bit." We shall soon see. Cheers, Dave

Hello Dave! I've just nipped down to Borders and had a look at the Christmas Radio Times, which confirms your suspicions that DigiGuide repeated last year's details by mistake. For your information, Christmas Mania is first being broadcast on ITV1 at 5:40pm on Saturday 17th December 2005, then repeated on ITV2 at 7pm on Christmas Day. I'll email Simon and ask him to take the information off the HWI main site. Best Wishes, Richard

I have just watched Hayley on Des and Mel. There was a nice little interview and, yes, CC was mentioned yet again. This was followed by Hayley singing live 'O Mio Babbino Caro'. As many of you know, I have seen Hayley so many times that you might expect the emotion I felt during the early days would have worn off by now. Don't you believe it. I am not ashamed to say I sat there in tears. No other singer has ever come close to having that effect on me. It was just so lovely. Roger

I am not ashamed to say I sat there in tears. No other singer has ever come close to having that effect on me. It was just so lovely. Roger UPDATED - TWO VIDEOS !Yes, Hayley was on top form today in what for her is a real challenge.. all the top opera stars have done O Mio and comparisons will inevitably be made. To sing it live like that was a bold move but I think it definitely came off; Hayley sung it beautifully and the interview was nice, too. The applause from the studio audience and the two presenters can only be described as thunderous! I don't think they could believe what they'd just heard, judging by the stress placed on it being "LIVE not MIMED" by the presenters at the end. Wow! The videos are now uploaded by Gerrit for hosting - the links are here (3 mins, 9MB & 9mins, 19MB). The slight glitches at the end of the O Mio video (not in the song) and a minute or so into the interview are on my original recording. Note the invisible orchestra - but Hayley WAS singing live! I've downloaded these versions - and will await feedback from you Dave, about possible glitchless versions. I feel that the "glitches" you are referring to are so minor as to be not distracting or disturbing . Cheers, Gerrit

Thanks for the beautiful videos Dave! Hayley's performance of "O Mio Babbino Caro" was simply unbelievable, and I'm beginning to understand why I like her so much! Now I'm really looking forward to seeing Hayley again at St. John's, Smith Square on Monday, but it's going to be a very long weekend! Three days to go! See you there, Richard

Hi Dave,
Many thanks for the superb videos. I hardly noticed the glitches and don't consider them worth worrying about. I saw the programme on the terrestrial channel and there were even more glitches in that!

And of course, they DID mention Charlotte, Roger... Hayley, as always, was magnanimous in her chosen response. Altogether a nice little chat, and "O Mio Bambino Caro" topped off the show wonderfully. HWI got a total overhaul this morning, BTW, so many of the sections that were previously unavailable since the move to Servage are now accessible. Not all, mind you, but a great deal more than before. Almost needless to say, but I shall of course, the Des and Mel show clip - all 15 minutes of it - IS available to view (but NOT to download - sorry - copyright and all that jazz) on both dial-up and 340k Broadband. What a difference a few months makes - and WHAT a difference an entire year makes. Hayley was last on the Des and Mel show exactly 366 days ago, and her growth as an international singing star and performer is evident. No more nervous giggles, though she does still belt out her words a little like a woodpecker on a favoured tree! Love her!! Well, we could do little else, could we? Tomorrow, Shrewsbury Abbey. Full reports will follow on our return... Enjoy! Simon www.hayley-westenra-international.com/

Wow! I absolutely loved the video of 'O mio..'. Hayley's voices fills the song so effortlessly. This is one of her best TV performances (in which, by the way, she looks very beautiful ). Sales will definitley go up after this aired. Wow.
