Hi Jono,
There might also be a show in Srewsbury Abbey on 21st November, but I don't think this has been confirmed yet. I'm sure that will be beautiful if it happens.

Hi forumers!
I might actually be able to get to this Dudley concert!
The Birmingham Conservatoire to the Dudley Concert Hall is roughly 23 minutes, according to Google maps, and its also on a Saturday, so no lecturers, so the guitar practice can take second priority on this occasion!
A distinct possibility!!!

Hi people
How do people actually get to meet Hayley? Is it usually after the concert when people are leaving, and she signs the programs or something? I've been to concerts before, but never to anything that features such a well known artist. A lot of people on this forum have had their pictures taken with Hayley: is it a quick 'can I have my picture taken with you?'. Do you strike up conversation, or is everything quite hectic and has to 'move along?'
Cheers
Ben

Hello Ben Hi people How do people actually get to meet Hayley? Is it usually after the concert when people are leaving, and she signs the programs or something? I've been to concerts before, but never to anything that features such a well known artist. A lot of people on this forum have had their pictures taken with Hayley: is it a quick 'can I have my picture taken with you?'. Do you strike up conversation, or is everything quite hectic and has to 'move along?' Cheers Ben Although nothing can ever be guaranteed, quite often Hayley will do a signing after a concert for those people who care to wait as it can be quite some time before she comes out. Generally, Hayley will give as much time as is needed and I've never known her leave before everyone that wants to, has seen her. Often, when time is pressing and her manager may tell her "we need to go", she will just go into overdrive. It's amazing to watch! If there isn't a signing, there's always the stage door and, even if she is in a hurry to leave, she will usually make time for a quick hello. When you do go to your first concert, just make sure your identify yourself to one of us. Where there's a will there's a way as they say! Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant
Thanks very much for that. My course at Birmingham starts on the 21st, and it would be a perfect start to my course if I could actually get to talk a few words to Hayley! If all works out, I hopefully will be going to the dudley concert.
How do I go about making myself known to some of the members at the event?
Cheers
Ben

Hi Ben How do I go about making myself known to some of the members at the event? Bit early yet, but we will be making arrangements to meet up before the concert. We often plan to have a meal together beforehand. Keep your eye on this thread in early September and we'll include you in the arrangements. Look forward to meeting up with you. Best wishes Grant

Hi Ben, Further to Grant's response to your question, I would add that meeting Hayley, and the amount of time she may be able to spend with fans, is dependent upon the following: - How many fans wish to meet her. She tries to see them all but that may mean that each individual only gets a minute or so.
- Whether or not she has to travel any distance that night.
- Whether or not she has anything scheduled for the following morning.
- Believe it or not, the venue's insurance policy. It usually includes a cut-off point when all members of the public must be clear of the premises. If they remain after that time, the additional costs must be met by the artist. Not a lot of people know that!
- And inevitably, if Hayley has been particularly busy recently, she may simply be too tired and needs to get away.
In all the above cases, especially the last one, she usually spends a little time with us (HWI members) but, as Grant says, it can never be guaranteed and we certainly have no right to expect more of her time than the rest of her fans. But she often gives it to us anyway! I have seen queues being moved along quickly when there is an advertised signing session, I have seen a smaller group of people spend ten minutes with her and there was an occasion when Dave and I (and nobody else) stood inside the stage door with her for the greater part of an hour. You never know until the time comes. But yes, if you want to have your photo taken with her, just ask her. Pass you camera (switched on and ready for action) to anyone nearby. That is often other HWI members or, very often, someone from Bedlam Management. They are always very helpful and extremely friendly. The only real rule is that you then have to race home, log in and tell us all about it... but somehow, I suspect you would have done that anyway! Roger

Hi Ben,
The conventional concert venues may not but Hayley often gives concerts in churches, abbeys and cathedrals, many of which certainly have some deadline for insurance purposes. Even the conventional venues prefer not to allow the public to remain there for too long if only because they want to pack up and go home!

If they remain after that time, the additional costs must be met by the artist. Not a lot of people know that! [/quote] More than likely it will be Dependant upon what is stipulated in the contract between the venue and the artist's management. The local licensing laws will stipulate the absolute latest cut off times for performances. Ultimately, it will be down to the venue management and staff and how co-operative they want to be. Buxton was an excellent example of this, where the Front of House staff were all volunteers and we were 'tolerated' until almost midnight. It was then Ray who thought that it was time to call it a night or we might all still have been there! I can't speak for places of worship - there are probably diocesan rules about such things, but several of us have been asked to leave at least two cathedrals in my memory, even with a certain celebrity for company. Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant, More than likely it will be Dependant upon what is stipulated in the contract between the venue and the artist's management. Yes it will but the terms of the contract are determined partly by the venue's policy which is based in turn on licencing laws and their insurance policy. Complicated innit?! Roger

- And inevitably, if Hayley has been particularly busy recently, she may simply be too tired and needs to get away.
I would add that people should always be sensitive to Hayley's well being and not seek contact with her if they are even slightly contagious. It's not always easy to know when one is in the early stages of a cold or flu -- which is often when one is most contagious. I think it goes without saying that everyone attending her concerts should be in the best of health, at least where communicable diseases are concerned. Always check beforehand that you are 100 percent germ-free.

Hi everyone
I really want to go to this Dudley concert, but I'm still unsure whether I can go due to the 26th being in the first week of uni (Freshers Week).
The reason I'm asking is that I dont want to buy a ticket and find out that I can't go!
Can anyone recommend when the absolute deadline should be to book a seat? Does an event like this sell out quickly?
Cheers
Ben
P.S Does anyone know what would be the best method to get to the Dudley concert hall from the Birmingham conservatoire?
