I am really excited for this album. I loved Hayley Sings Japanese Songs and had wished she would do another. Now she is  Now, I've just got to save my money from work so I can purchase the album. <3 Caitlin |

Hi Paulo. No.5 ねむの木の子守歌= Nemunoki no komoriuta / Singing lullaby under the silk tree is the only song sang in Japanese together with Tokyo Womens Choir organized by Ms. Reiko Yukawa a song writer. According to the HSJS2 track listing translation provided by Maya, I suppose this tune will be only available sung in Japanese!?  I wonder if the CD single will have an English version also! Yes, you are right, Paulo. I do not think any more comment is needed for this single CD. But I must add that the lyrics of this song was written by the most noble woman in Japan. The Imperial Majesty Empress Michiko wrote it when she was a high school student. It is such a special one so that a translator needs some special attention and skill. That may be the reason why it is kept and sang in original Japanese. I myself payed some extra attention to give the English title. Google's translation is just "Lullaby of Nemunoki" but I translate it "Singing lullaby under the silk tree" not to loose any meanings containing in it. My kids used to listen to it and slept peacefully. Some of you may fall into sleep listening to this, I bet. It is such a peaceful song. I am sure all of you will like it very much. Best wishes. Hi Maya Thank you for providing more details about the "Lullaby" song. Your posts are always most interesting and informative in providing background that I doubt we would get to know otherwise. Also, if this is such a special song for Japanese people, it seems to me to be quite an honour for Hayley to be able to include it in her album and release it as a single. Hi Paulo, No I did not mean you  I had already decided not followed your link. I could not however resist the link that Dave gave to the Birthday Party. I wanted to see Hayley 'fit and well' and therefore could not avoid the clips of video for the Japanese Songs 2 CD. I very much enjoyed the video, and the song clips were too short and out of context to really spoil any enjoyment of the album when it arrives I'm sure. But it did give a general idea of what it might sound like, and whetted my appetite even more!
I know Dave won't post full tracks anyway, or allow anyone else to do so - the forum rules prevent it!

She sings in Maori without singing a version in English, so why would this be any "worse"? It wouldn't seem right to release an album in Japan and not have a song actually in Japanese on it! I've said it before, but I really think Hayley should record some songs in Japanese on her international albums, maybe ones from the HSJS. Since the Japanese apparently like her and buy her albums, it only makes sense that she could include one or two on her major albums. That would also help promote her Japanese albums. |

I was only guessing if this time the single would have both versions (following the example of the previous album), but after reading Maya's latest post about the translation of the lyrics, and how the song is so special (Thank you very much Maya), I presumed that this is not the case. I love to hear Hayley singing in Japanese or any other language, in fact if she ever decides to release a full album sung in Japanese I would buy it for sure. I love very much to hear "Bist du bei mir" sung in German and I don't understand a single word. Even in English I find very difficult to follow the lyrics if I don't read them. PS: I have listened several times to the original version of "tsubomi" by kobukuro and I love it! Best wishes, Paulo Correia |
