I guess I think I'll bang my head against a wall before starting a thread like this again folks NO! Peter T you have raised a discussion. That is what we are about, not being sycophantic slaves to preconceptions but arguing our points. We are raising constructive debate about what is best for Hayley. She 'drops in' from time to time and if not she, those who are close to her do. What better criticism could she get but that which comes from those whom she knows support her and her best interests. Comparison with others emphasises what there is in Hayley that makes us proclaim her as better than they. Peter S.

Sharon's voice is nice. Thanks for sharing this, Peter. I can see why she would remind you of Hayley. I've said before, that I prefer soprano voices, but they don't seem to be that common, so I will definitely check out this band. Evanescence has a nice voice too, with a similar style of music. There is a singer who I discovered because just a couple of notes reminded me of Hayley. I heard a cover of "Dream On" on the radio at work, sung by a lady with a pretty voice. One part, the highest note, I think, sounded almost as pure as Hayley as the note faded away. Kelly Sweet is the singer. She's an American singer, whose debut album came out in 2007. Her voice isn't much like Hayley's for the most part; she usually sings a little bit lower, in a soothingly soft voice, and with some beautiful high notes. her style is classical crossover, too. Here's Kelly's Dream On video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTC2oEcZM4kSo, take note, I'm not saying she sounds a lot like Hayley, but she did remind me of her at one part (2:58). That is the question, remember. Anyway, she is a nice singer.

My own response to your post 16 Libby, which was in reply to a post by Peter T I assume, is that the visual is evocative of the Pokarekara Ana visual which may have helped trigger the emotive association but voicewise does not do anything for me, I am sorry to say. Peter S,

Peter S, Peter, she doesn't remind me of Hayley because I think she sounds like Hayley. She has a similar soprano voice, but, as others have said, has a harder edge to it. I would not call her voice "pure" like Hayley's. The video reminds me nothing of Hayley or Pokarekare Ana. The video is strange. I watched another video of theirs, and it was even weirder. Someone who responded to the video said they're videos are "beastly". Hayley's videos are never beastly.

Hello Peter, I am very happy you linked 'Memories'. It's my favourite song of Within Temptation and I think I have tried to flog it onto this forum before! Sharon has a beautiful voice, especially live (I saw her at the Astoria two years ago... or was it three...?) Funnily enough I have often compared Sharon and Hayley, if only to show that Hayley's kind of voice is capable of doing other music than what she already currently does. As soon as I saw the title I was going to say Sharon. I think Emma Shapplin is quite similar too. Same tone and register, but I think Emma's is a little bit sharper, whilst Hayley's voice is more rounded. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9a66c7HWNk

Recently while listening to Yahoo's launchcast classical crossover radio station, I heard a song by Lara Fabian, called Addio del Passato. She has a nice voice, and only slightly reminds me of Hayley, but enough so that I think this song would suit Hayley's voice very well. Listen to the song here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSHhHuCc4ukBe patient, she doesn't actually start singing until about 1:13.

Lara Fabian did a lovely duet with Josh Groban for the 'A.I.' film called 'For Always'. Stunning. I did buy a few album of hers but wasn't feeling her material, but I was much younger when I tried her out, she made need a re-visit. I wouldn't associate her voice with Hayley's though.

Just part of the song (not the beginning), and I did say, only slightly. I did try bits of other songs, and she didn't sound like Hayley at all. I don't think I'd want to hear almost every song in French, either, so I don't think I'd want her albums.
This topic is kind of silly. Nobody really sounds like Hayley, but whenever anyone says a singer sounds even the teensiest bit like Hayley, everybody's like "She doesn't sound anything like Hayley!"
Let me remind everyone the key word of the thread is "Remind". If someone's voice REMINDS you of Hayley, it does not mean every note they sing sounds exactly like Hayley's voice. Lara doesn't sound that much like Hayley to me, there is just a certain quality to her voice in PART of this song, NOT the beginning, that REMINDS me slightly of Hayley. My point was more that the song would suit Hayley's voice, rather than whether Lara sounds exactly like Hayley or not (and she does not).

This topic is kind of silly.... Maybe it's silly right now, but over time more singers will arrive on the scene who sound like Hayley on purpose, because she''s actually a terrific vocalist to emulate. Hayley will rightfully influence the next generation of similar-genre singers, just as Sarah Brightman did before. I still say the most "Hayley-esque" voice out there belongs to Saara Aalto. Too bad Saara's "Who Painted the Moon Black" is no longer available, because a direct comparison would prove my point.

I didn't even suggest that she didn't remind you or even sound like Hayley, etc. I just said I wouldn't have associated them. Why the big defense? I was kind of hoping you would say something more about Lara, rather than justifying yourself further with the connection.

It wasn't just you, but I was skimming through the whole thread, and everytime anyone suggests a singer, everybody says they don't remind them of Hayley at all. So, this discussion was just starting to seem a little pointless. Sorry.
I don't know whether you listened to the song I posted or not, but I do think in some parts, her voice does resemble Hayley's a little bit, and it does sound very nice.

I once had a dream that I heard an angel singing. And you know what ? She reminded me of Hayley. I immediately awoke put on a Hayley CD and listened intently and got goosebumps. Hayley sounded better than the Angel. So lets enjoy her while she is on loan from God.

I know this post will be buried in no time by the ongoing "Tweeter Walll of Fame" blizzard, but there is another singer whose voice is sufficiently Hayley-esque to merit a mention: Saffron Jones She's the soprano half of "Amaroma". For more info, click HERE!Now get back to your silly Tweeter overkill!
