Well, the things you learn while trawling Hayley guestbooks. Reading Steve Abbott's message on the official site guestbook (Dec 30th) I noticed that: The Wuthering Heights single to be released in the UK in March will be a "newly recorded" version "including a great video" So, all of us who bought Pure have an excellent excuse to go out and buy the single, whatever the other tracks are! The question is, will the single have the video on it? Or is it to be sold separately? Or will it be bundled with the single? I need to know, someone please tell me! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

That's an excellent question, Dave, and it absolutely occasions Decca to do the very thing you ask about, assuming they are sufficiently visionary. Let there BE a new video bundled with the new single. Why the heck not?

I've been investigating the rules for CD singles this morning, and unless steve meant a video for TV only, it could be some form of the the new "maxi" CD (as below, but I'm only guessing). Whatever it is, roll on March! www.bpi.co.uk/news/press/news_content_file_663.shtml"New content rules for the ‘maxi’ CD The addition of the two-track CD single to the list of format options for singles means the existing CD single effectively becomes a ‘maxi’ CD. the CSC has recommended the following liberalisation of the rules to take effect from January 1 2004: > Current maximum of three tracks will in addition be able to feature remixes of those tracks so long as they remain within the currently-acknowledged time limit of 20 minutes > Singles which solely feature a lead track plus multiple remixes of the same track will be able to run for up to 40 minutes > The current limit of one video will increase to two > Singles will, for the first time, be able to feature weblinks with an extension of the rule which currently allows them on albums > These rules also extend to the DVD single format. The OCC will continue to include sales of up to three formats per title for the singles chart, but from January 1 2004, that maximum of three can include only one two-track CD format and one maxi CD format."

UK fans - get voting! (see below)I've just seen a trailer for what seems to be Hayley's new video of "Wuthering Heights" on Classic FM TV (in the UK). The channel are asking for votes for the "video of the month" and Hayley is in the list. I haven't seen the full video yet but it may be about to be shown (if it hasn't already). Maybe it needs to win the vote to get shown? The excerpt looks good. It's filmed in an old stone walled mansion and Hayley looks really good, dressed in smart period costume for the part of Cathy... with a distant shot of "Heathcliff" sat in a chair under the huge window. The vocals are clearer than the version on Pure, the backing bass seems to be toned down a little and you can clearly hear Hayley sing all of the word "Win-dow" this time round So, unless this was an old video that's been re-released (but I'm not aware of an earlier version) the new one looks good, really good. Time will tell if the youngsters will like it if/when it finds its way onto MTV (of all places!). And goodness, there's still 6 weeks to go before the official release date! All UK fans - let's make this Classic FM's "Video of the Month"! The number to phone... 0901 114 6405 (votes cost 25p.) I've started the ball rolling already i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Why is the first "h" in heights not capitalised on the cover? Shouldn't it read "Wuthering Heights"?

They've changed the wording on their newsletter, too. The new bit now says about Wuthering 'heights' : "It's a different version of the song that appers on Pure. In addition, the single contains two tracks not previously on the UK version of Pure." And this time, they spelled a word wrong i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI've never bought an enhanced CD single (i.e. with video) before but from what little I've been able to find out, the video will be a reasonable quality mpeg or quicktime video, playable only on PCs (and probably Macs too). Probably lower quality than DVD and possibly less than full screen size. If anyone knows the facts regarding this (or other) videos on CD singles, please tell!

Hi Dave, Now THAT is interesting. Let's hope things have been cleared up and people will actually get to see it. Thanks for that, Keith.

First time I've seen Hayle's Wuthering Heights video. Even with that postage stamp size screen, it's clear this was wonderfully produced and edited. Dramatic and expressive. Fastastic!

The release of Hayley's first single in the UK - Wuthering Heights - has been delayed. There had been some difficulty over the legal rights to use the video, so it was withdrawn and the release was to go ahead without it. I have been informed (evening of 21st) that the release is being held back. There is some hope that the difficulty over the Wuthering Heights video will be sorted out shortly and the release INCLUDING the video will soon be able to go ahead.
