As far as I'm concerned there was absolutely nothing wrong with what Hayley was wearing in that photograph. The pose was not unacceptable and neither was the setting, but you put all three elements together and it starts to paint a picture that I would not wish to be associated with Hayley. If my daughter told me she had been asked to stand seductively on a bed while someone took her photo, knowing it would appear on the internet, I would be extremely concerned. What sort of signal would it put out about her to some? Actually, my daughter would never do such a thing.... Come to think of it, I haven't even got a daughter! Roger

Maybe the press in New Zealand might find it raunchy as they have not yet seen Hayley appearing/dressing more adult like. They are used to the 'Pure' imagery, which was Hayley a lot younger.
The presenter might have just thought the idea of lying on a bed was raunchy rather than the clothing Hayley had on, but what else can you take a picture of in a small hotel room??

Stuff.co.nz have just put a poll on their front page:- What do you think of Hayley Westenra's new 'mature' image? Either Vote HOT or NOT . The results when I checked were 6 for HOT and 1 for NOT. Also they have that infamous bed photo printed again but this time its large sized and good quality. I have to admit it looks genuine. It's like Stuff were listening to us, maybe they are spying . LOL at that NZ Stuff poll - it won't tell us anything! Some people will vote "not" as a compliment! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAs for daughters and "that" photo, well as everyone says the clothes aren't the issue, it's whether or not the photo and pose in its setting are good or bad. I know that *my* teens/twenties daughters would flay me alive if I posted a photo that bad of them, in a public place. Wideangle photos taken in smallish rooms are notoriously unflattering and the background, well it's just a boring looking hotel room with an equally boring looking bed. Quite what the object of allowing its publication was, i really don't know! The white dress photo is fine, except that I think the makeup was overdone. I'll tell you this, I wouldn't let that photographer within a mile of any of *my* family events and I hope that when we see some glamour photoshoots done as part of Hayley's UK promotion, the published NZ shots will be shown for what they are - decidedly average.

I do agree with a lot of what's said here. I almost posted in anger yesterday, but I'm glad I took a deep breath. Things seem to be calming down a bit.
The important part of what I wanted to say is this: OK, you may not like a picture or 2 that you see, and the photog prolly did want to stir something up, but it's important that we as Hayley's fans, and maybe kinda her friends as well, not overreact, and not post overreactions.
I for one am convinced that the overreacting to some things is part of what pushed a certain other singer over the edge. Hayley is a wonderful vocalist and one of the nicest people anyone could ever meet, but she's not an otherworldly angel and she's not a porcelain statue that loses all value the minute it gets a slight chip or smudge. She's also not someone like a Sir Gawain, who overreacted in shame to his one slight error (breaking a minor promise) by putting a green bent across the perfect star that adorned his shield and bearing it till he fell at Camilan alongside the rest of Arthur's loyal knights.
Hayley's under enough pressure as it is, having to get out and promote an album all over again, and having a tough act to follow with "Pure." Her fans turning on her over a picture or over an image might quite easily lead her to wonder why she should keep being nice if people will turn on her like that. It would be a tragedy if she stopped being accessible and an even bigger tragedy if she began to dislike the public.
After she has been so kind to so many of us, don't we owe her at least some unconditional support?
Think about it. And think VERY hard before you post on this.

I am sure nobody here is "turning on Hayley". Far from it. If anything we are trying to be defensive, maybe even protective towards her. As for unconditional support, she has that by the shipload - and she knows it.
And I did not need to think VERY hard.

Hello Steven and Roger! I've known Hayley for nearly two years now, and I've met her six times so far. I've always been impressed by her natural maturity, and I certainly feel privileged to know her. She is a wonderful singer and a lovely friend, and I would hate anything to spoil it, so I won't be voting in this poll. Hayley told me at Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre that she doesn't feel any different now she's 18, and I don't think she needs a new image just yet, if ever. Now that "Odyssey" is being released around the world, I'm hoping the press will focus their attention on that. The early reviews are very favourable, so congratulations Hayley! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard

The votes are now: HOT - 280NOT - 205I personally did'nt vote as I think Stuff.co.nz have gotten this subject totally wrong. They must think standing on a bed suddenly means you are more grown up . The item should read, do you think this picture is tacky?? Emmett

Maybe it should say, do you think the picture is genuine??
I still have my doubts.

Hi Roger, Yeah, I think that would be the best question. The larger image really shows the quality of the shot and if its fake they did do a good job. It's hard to say because Stuff seem to support Hayley well in other articles. I think this debate will go on for quite a while. Emmett
