Thank you Paulo for your technical suggestions/links. I'm exploring this area for the first time but trying to get the hang of my new Mac first as there is a lot within it but this sort of information is certainly helpful when working in windows. Peter S. Hi Peter and everyone, I don't have many experience with Mac computers, but I found this software "Free Video Downloader for Mac", it looks like a very interesting solution. Free Video Downloader for Mac Features - Automatically detect the internet videos from flash video-sharing sites you opened in both Safari and Firefox.
- Download FLV videos from YouTube and other video-sharing sites to your Mac.
- A functional FLV player is built in to play the downloaded videos and your own videos.
- This Free Mac YouTube Downloader supports multithreading so that it can download multiple online videos at a time.
- Provide you with the download history list to let you know what videos you have downloaded in the past.
- Allow you to customize various options to make the program the easiest for you.
- Professional downloader developed only for Mac PowerPC and Mac Intel (including Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and tiger) users.
www.iskysoft.com/free-mac-video-downloader.htmlDo you think that would be interesting to have a thread with free software solutions and tutorials, in one place, so it could be easy to find and useful to forum members? Or there is already a thread like that? Best wishes, Paulo Correia

Thanks very much for all of your help. Joe

Hi Paolo, enzian, Joe , Peter & all. Good suggestions Paolo....everyone needs to learn as much as they can about video technology....very worthwhile & rewarding. Enzian, thanks for your great youtube finds .....my Rhydian collection is now quite substantial. He's extremely magnetic to say the least. My favourite clip is probably "impossible dream" with the single still picture.....marvellous !!! But he can sing anything & make it his....like someone else we know. Graeme

Thanks very much for all of your help. Joe Very good suggestion, Paulo. That would go some way to co-ordinating the database/search facility I mentioned earlier. Roger quite rightly responded as I had expected: 'good idea but heck of a job close to impossible'. Handling it on a 'sector basis' makes it more possible ESPECIALLY if that someone is other than the guys already bogged down with basic necessities and one who knows what he is talking about! I'm sure if you can express clear ideas as to how it would work, a Mod would make available their accessibility to help with any major data management but would need convincing. The value of this site as it exists is incalculable. However, my reply certainly and perhaps your question should be transferred to a thread under 'Technical' because we're both way off topic!' Therein lies our main problem--so much inter-relatedness on the other hand without some form of topic discipline how could we ever find anything? Good Luck. Peter S.

I enjoyed the performance (mostly). His voice is similar to Josh Groban, maybe more commanding. Josh has a smoother, gentler tone. However, it was completely ruined with that disgusting smooch. That was more than just a little peck, too. Are they really just friends, as Hayley says? I'll have to be careful what I say here,, since I might be on thin ice with the mods, but I feel I have to say it. And it might be a bit OT as well. I discovered a new word this morning, "cyanometry". For a time before that, Hayley's beautiful song on that subject had been buzzing around my head. Coincidence? Perhaps! It is a song that she has reintroduced to her live repertoire recently. Cyanometry means "The study of the blueness of the sky". www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/reports?ARCHIV=0&LANG=en&MENU=Extra&FILE=extra_pe.tit&DAY=20090526 gives more information. Why is this relevant? Well, Libby, if your suspicions are true, which we don't know I emphasise, then that song, Never Saw Blue, might be expressing how Hayley actually feels right now. Go and have a listen to her singing it. Experience the joy and wonder she puts into it. And if you care about Hayley, as I'm sure you do, why are you not overjoyed for her!! BTW, RR is not the first duet partner Hayley has kissed during that song. And the other one is and was happily married! Martin

I apologize for my over-reaction to the kiss. I was not aware that she had done this with any other duet partner. I think I was just paranoid about it because of the gossip. I did read the statement saying the gossip wasn't true, but when I saw the kiss it just made me wonder. I suppose it was partly because of my "protectiveness" feelings. I have high-standards when it comes to my own preferences in regards to men, so I feel very much the same way for Hayley. I'm not saying Rhydian is not a nice person, but just because he's nice doesn't mean he's right for Hayley. I'm still not fond of his hair, though. I often regret some of the impulsive things I say, and then I can't get rid of them, so there they stay, to make myself look bad. Despite what Grant says, I sometimes wonder if I'm really that well-liked here, because of this, but I know that's my fault, I guess. To get somewhat back on-topic, this is now the 6th duet partner to have sung this song with her! I like the song, but how come she always sings that with so many of her male duet partners?

Hi Libby, Don't worry about it. I think that you feel as many of us do, very protective of Hayley. However, Hayley is very capable of taking care of herself. A stage kiss is not like a film kiss. Films have gone to the extreme. Sometimes I think it is fitting for a duet couple to kiss after a very romantic song.

Hi Libby,
Yes, I understand that protective feeling, and Hayley's sweet and innocent nature makes one fear for her. But as Larry says, I think she can take care of herself. It is like with your own kids, you feel protective towards them, and try to help then avoid some of the pitfalls in life, but in the end you cannot be too protective or they resent it. So you have to let then go, and trust that the principles and morality that you hope you have instilled into them will keep them safe. I'm sure Hayley's parents did the same, and knew when the right moment was to leave her to her own devices. By the way Libby, although I have sometimes disagreed with you, I have probably agreed with you more often. I don't think anyone here dislikes you, but I can understand you might feel like that when you say something that several others disagree with. But please don't let that stop you, I have enjoyed reading your posts.

I can understand your feelings Libby, and everyone is entitled to their opinion - of course you are protective of Hayley and others feel protective of Rhydian, so discussions and differing viewpoints on this topic will inevitably arise. However, as Martin said, it is the same as with your own children - you instill values and give advice, but you have to let them go and they have to make their own decisions. Life in the music business is lonely and friends are hard to find. If they have found a good friend in each other, someone they can trust to share things with, it is a wonderful thing. As for the performance that has given rise to these discussions and differing opinions, it is a love song and they were acting it, or maybe not - only they know. But what emerged was a beautiful and believable interpretation - usually this song is slightly awkward especially in the musical interlude, check some of the others on youtube. Hayley and Rhydian made it believable - the lyrics were interpreted, the choreography was perfect for the mood and story of the song, and the result was pure magic. I don't know why they sang this particular song, Rhydian said that Hayley wanted to do it - he has never sung it before, or at least not on stage. I suppose she knows it well and that is important as they had little time to prepare it - which makes it all the more remarkable as they made the audience believe they were the characters, i.e. that they are a couple. The duet with Lee did not go as smoothly with Lee singing Rhydian's part at one point. But about Rhydian, he really is a decent young man. I am not sure about the hair either, it is a record company decision as much as his own - but you get used to it and it is now a part of him. He actually has red hair. But if my daughter brought someone like Rhydian home I would be thrilled and would be delighted with her choice. The same goes for my son and someone like Hayley. They belong to the good poeple of this world. And Libby, if you have time, you could look at a couple of youtube videos and get to know Hayley's friend a little better. That shows much more of the person than a badly written and misquoted article, that is if it had quotes at all because as you will see from the videos, those were almost certainly not Rhydian's words: 1) Talking to Aled Jones (who has incidently sung the same duet with Hayley, but very differently): www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxujKOldiZc2) On a UK magazine show This Morning: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKwzVRSX7WY3) And on another show, GMTV: www.youtube.com/watch?v=80B8K2qcZhg&feature=relatedSo don't worry Libby, you are without doubt a valued and well-liked member of the forum whose opinions are just as important and valid as anyone elses. So keep posting!!

Thanks. I personally hope Hayley finds someone who isn't very famous, more of a "normal" person. I know God has someone special for her, whether she's met him before or not.

I couldn't agree more, Libby. But my reasons are likely more selfish than yours... EDIT: Thought I should add something a little more on topic before my post gets deleted lol. As I have mentioned elsewhere, what would be the logic in kissing someone (on stage) who you don't want your fans to know you are dating..? I think, regardless of how close they are (which is none of our business), their relationship never amounted to anything "official". I have absolutely nothing against Rhydian, I'm sure he's a good guy. But until something is announced officially, I doubt there is anything special...

A little aside on this, I recall a school production of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Ernest Nowadays they have the wit to use girls but in my days you weren't even supposed to talk to your own sister in the street! As the headmistress of the time reportedly said to our headmaster when he suggested there should be closer relationships between the two schools, "There is no way I am having any of your boys near any of my gals. No way, no how and not ever!". Faced with the need for two boys kissing (one dressed as a girl) the difficulty was overcome by the man removing his boater and holding it sideways hiding both their faces as their heads came close but not together. And they wonder why people talk so much about 'the things that happen' in English public schools! Peter S.

Peter,
Wow...so maybe thats why my parents automatically draw conclusions that a guy and girl who merely go for a walk together, see a movie, or talk on the phone, must be in a serious relationship..
Things are a lot more complicated these days...
