I've heard Rhydian sing before but I tend to be absorbed by Hayley.

He has a truly magnificent voice !!!! They're a WOW together.

I was also quite startled to see Hayley choreographing the kiss.

The best thing about collaborations with other singers is that you get to hear opinions of people who aren't already Hayley fans -- and it feels really special when someone who doesn't know her very well has great things to say about her.

A member called Robert at the International Idol Shows forum said that he was impressed at Hayley's transition from a child prodigy to a young woman performer. I agree. Everything that Robert says about Hayley makes sense to me.
He seems to know her very well.

On the other hand my first hearing of Rydian was ALW 60th birthday bash so I know nothing personally about him.

Thanks for posting that video! You can get a wonderful view of Hayley from that angle. Doesn't her red dress look very striking against the black background?

Rhydian fans are very much on task aren't they? Considering how hard it is to get good footage with the camera police about, you've done an excellent job.

What perfectly crystal clear voices they both have.....I never grow tired of that song.

That's the first stage kiss I've ever 'seen' Hayley execute.....very smooth.

Hi Graeme.

I'd imagine that the mid song kiss would be a much easier thing to do at a Rhydian concert than one of her own. I've noticed his concerts are much more theatrical -- big lighting, back up singers in little dresses, video screens etc. I think in that situation it'd be much easier to just get lost in the lights and lose your inhibitions.

On the other hand, going out on stage at one of Hayley's concerts with just a violinist and a piano on a bare stage -- well, it'd probably feel a bit like taking your clothes off.

It's been an interesting exercise in seeing something a bit different from Hayley and it's fun to see her being a bit adventurous. Not to mention this status she seems to have acquired amongst some Rhydian fans as a sort of Goddess who appears to be living out their biggest fantasy.

I enjoyed the performance (mostly). His voice is similar to Josh Groban, maybe more commanding. Josh has a smoother, gentler tone.
However, it was completely ruined with that disgusting smooch. That was more than just a little peck, too. Are they really just friends, as Hayley says?

I agree, duetting with him is good because it is attracting more fans. That's the only good thing I can get out of it, though. If it weren't for that article and that smooch, I might not be so prejudiced, but I can't help it.

About Rhydian's fans' comments -- well, his fanbase is almost entirely female and when you get a bunch of women together and the topic of romance rears its head, everyone can get carried away... unlike male based forums where everyone just thinks 'oh, yeah... whatever'. On a different forum they're already planning the wedding. It's just women being women and it's perfectly harmless fun. I'm sure we've all had our moments with a bunch girlfriends giggling like a pack of hyenas over something similar. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

As for what I think you're referring to in the article posted a few pages back... well, it makes sense that Rhydian wouldn't want children now. He's 25 and just starting a big, time demanding career. For him to have children now would be irresponsible for everyone involved. It's no different from the quotes from Hayley saying that she couldn't imagine being a mother of two like Charlotte Church etc etc.

As for Rhydian on the whole, well, I don't know anything about him as a person, but from what I've read on other forums he's very nice and considerate to his fans -- remembering names, taking time to sign things, helping fans to work their cameras etc. Besides, I'm sure that Hayley wouldn't be friends with anyone who wasn't everything but nice.

I wouldn't call it a disgusting smooch, it is a love song and both were in character and a kiss on the hand, as I have seen often before in this song, is not really fitting to the lyrics although it is understandable between two singers who do not know each other well. Hayley and Rhydian are clearly very comfortable with each other - Hayley initiated the kiss in Cardiff so she has no problems with it. They are obviously very good friends, otherwise Hayley would not have given up so much of her precious time to support Rhydian. Is it more, who knows, it is their business only - but probably not, as the time is really not there at the moment. But it seems to be a good friendship.
As to that article, it is a typical tabloid article - probably one quote and a story made out of it. Rhydian has never said he doesn't want children, in fact he has said he does, but only when he can give his all to being a husband and father. He does not have the time now, he is at the start of his career and once said he plans to devote the next five years to trying to become established. That is why he decided to finish his last relationship, the lady in question could not wait that long. He is still young.
There seems to be a certain amount of negativity towards Rhydian on the forum here. I am not sure why, he is a decent Christian young man who, for example, spent last night singing at the Huddersfield Church Fellowship on his one day off. After every concert, although exhausted, he spends a lot of time signing autographs for fans, staying until the last person has their photo and signature. He does a lot of work for charity, he doesn't drink, he is respectful towards women, is humble....
I wouldn't take the article or the forum very seriously. The first doesn't even sound like they have talked to Rhydian - it certainly doesn't appear to contain direct quotes from him. The forum is just fans talking about a beautiful and unexpected duet, which showed a completely different side to Rhydian, as to Robert, he has a lot of interesting ideas and likes to analyse.

Thanks for your insight into Rhydian. I must ask you to be gentle towards some of our forumers. By way of background, this is a very unique situation on here as it is the first time Hayley has ever been publicly linked to someone. I think many were quite upset as what they saw as unfounded tabloid gossip intruding into Hayley's personal life -- and it may have appeared to be directed at Rhydian.

Hayley started her career very young and I believe some people on here have been following her since she was as young as 13. As a result, it is natural for some to be very protective of her as it was only a blink of an eye ago that she was just a young girl.

I think that it's different for Rhydian as he broke onto the scene as very much an adult and hence his fans are assured that he's more than capable of looking after himself.

I'm sure that if Hayley and Rhydian continue to collaborate in the future, all the HWI people will come to know him as you do.

I'd be devasted if a 'fan rivalry' situation developed, so I think we should all do our best to get along.

I am always gentle with people!!! I just wanted to protect Rhydian a little as he is one of the good guys. I personally thought the duet was magical how they portrayed it, it is after all a dialogue between two people in love and they both captured it perfectly and innocently - and I am pretty sure that is how it was meant to be sung.
