Hi again Maggie... Maybe dumb question, but who's Karen??? Is there another new member??? I didn't notice a Karen here? Maybe I'm a bit nutty Sharon Ooooppps - sorry Sharon, having a "senior" moment there. I did mean you I am looking forward to hearing Hayley sing at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday. Was hoping that Rhydian would be invited to sing but sadly not this year - maybe next. He will probably be attending the Service in Cardiff as he did last year. Hi Everyone, The promo has started for Rhydian's new album. There's an interview steaming here which has a short snippet of a new song 'O Fortuna' at the end. They talk mostly about X Factor and it's very interesting. Rhydian says that he believes that the show is now an entertainment show rather than a talent show. Rhydian TalkSport interview 061109.mp3Here's another interview called 'Rhydian Faces The Stocking of Truth' which has to be onr of the most amusing/stupid interview formats ever! Kind of reminds me of something off Japanese television. :rollin www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs-2yRXPcts

Another snippet of Rhydian singing O Fortuna in Latin - courtesy of Tracy - this album is going to be simply amazing. Not long to go now until its release. www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5dgBoBW16E

Wow... O Fortuna sounds great! I can't wait to hear track samples to see if they live up to the standard set by O Fortuna.
Maybe I was wrong and Rhydian can do a great crossover album. I certainly like the song selection on the album!

Hi Jillian
A very interesting article. Not sure I agree that it's being on Simon Cowell's label that is making him uptight. Seems more likely to me that it's his own desire to be the best and the effect that that is having on his relationship with his family. Not once did he say that he enjoys what he does and I think that is very sad. I also think that is why Hayley stays so grounded.
Best wishes Grant

Hi Grant, I also think that Hayley being so young at the beginning also helped a lot. When you're as young as Hayley was, you don't take the world as seriously or perhaps understand the significance of what's going on -- which is probably a good thing. Young Hayley had a large support net in the form of her parents who would have picked up the pieces had things not worked out. I've gathered that Hayley's parents were always quick to impress upon her that showbiz can be fickle and to just make the most of what comes her way. A very down to earth attitude which I suspect comes from being tucked away down in New Zealand. But I guess it's a bit different when you're 26 (as opposed to 15-19)-- you want to create a life for yourself, you've got bills to pay, you want security... I sort of see where Rhydian is coming from in being uber obsessed and controlling about every tiny detail of his life. But you're right -- I think if he twists himself up into a huge knot over all of this, only bad things will come of it. One thing I have come to appreciate in my so far short life is that sometimes you can't control everything and you're just going to frustrate yourself if you try. The greatest adventures come from change and surprises.

Hi Jillian
Yes, I totally agree. Rhydian says he wanted to be a singer and he wants to be the best but the inference is "at any cost" although I don't believe for a minute that it's as clear cut as that.
On the other hand, Hayley seems happy with "I'm good at what I do and I love doing it". I think if that ceased to be the case, Hayley would be on a next flight back to New Zealand and the loving arms of her family for good.
Best wishes Grant

Thanks for the links, Clorinda! Hi Grant, Although, I suppose Hayley went through a bit of a phase in her late teens when she was overly strict with herself in an attempt to protect her voice. I remember in an interview she commented that she later realised that it's more healthy to just relax and not worry so much all the time.

Well Jillian, in this country we acquire our diamonds in the usual fashion - by paying through the nose !! Or better still - somewhere where nobody can read it ............I am not amused. Best wishes to Rhydian. Paddy Edit: Since the point of my post has been lost, I have amended it appropriately. Paddy

Oh dear, we shouldn't really take tabloid interviews too seriously!!! They do tend to embellish things and put their own slant on otherwise innocent remarks. Here is a video Tracy has kindly put together. Not long to go now until the album's release. I for one cannot wait. To hear that glorious voice soaring once again...... www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnsS7v6lptM
