Hi All, On Sunday 19 October, the annual German Classical Echo awards were presented in a live broadcast by ZDF Television. One could compare the Echo awards with the Classical Brits - except that unlike the Brits, these awards do not involve any popular vote. This year's awards involved numerous high profile performers. Probably the best known were Andrea Bocelli, Cecilia Bartoli and José Carreras. Cecilia Bartoli received the award for solo singer of the year, José Carreras received a lifetime achievement award. Andrea Bocelli did not receive an award, but was chosen to present Cecilia Bartoli with her award. And the Grand Finale of the programme was the first ever duet between Andrea and Cecilia. Also, there were performers at the Gala who attended the Classical Brits earlier this year, most notably David Garrett and Danielle de Niese. I have now uploaded 6 videos to my YouTube channel. You can access them via nl.youtube.com/user/ClassicalRelatedThe duet between Andrea and Cecilia is beautiful (and I think Cecilia's enthusiasm is simply charming): nl.youtube.com/watch?v=CC9TzyeZFnEMy personal highlight however was Annette Dachs (who received the award for opera performance of the year): nl.youtube.com/watch?v=dT8LY0eD6acEnjoy!
