Part 2
After the interval during which Gordon bought me an ice cream (thanks Gordon, it was delicious!) Stephanie approached the microphone to introduce their first number, mentioning that she had been asked about the history of it. “Ooh that was me!” I thought, then realised that Steph was looking straight at me “I’ve not had time to research it yet, but I will”, addressed directly to me. I gave her a ‘thumbs up’ and a grin. “Great girl!” I thought.
Just like Sunday night at Lichfield, the second part of the concert passed in a flash and we were at “Wuthering Heights”. This is a tremendous highlight and stunning ending to an amazing concert, but the enthusiastic audience brought her back for an encore of Hine e Hine and my third River of Dreams concert was over.
We made our way out and headed for the stage door as there is not going to be a signing session. There is already a small gathering at stage door and we joined it. Richard preferring to keep his eye on the tourmobile in the yard. First to appear was Kirsty to see relatives then, surprisingly Kathryn from Bedlam who had a quick chat with us and said that Hayley would be out in a few minutes, before disappearing with one of the sound guys.
I managed to ask Kirsty if it would be possible to have a quick word with Stephanie and she disappeared inside to find her. She did say that Stephanie was not travelling with them, so when I saw her come out and head in the opposite direction, I caught up to her and got a lovely smile of recognition. My task completed, I returned to our group – there is still no sign of Hayley but Kirsty, Natalie and Rachel have appeared.
Beginning to recognise faces, they were interested to know where we had all travelled from and seemed surprised that we even had friends from various parts of the Continent, Ireland and even the US travelling just to come to the concerts. Rachel, was unhappy with one of my Newcastle pics so I was hoping that she would like the ones I posted from Lichfield – she hadn’t seen them but promised to look.
Still no sign of Hayley. We’re keeping our eye on where the bus is parked. I peek round the corner to see Hayley walking out to see us. Someone waves the group at the stage to join us and Hayley is surrounded. I made an executive decision earlier to put my camera back in the car and, for the most part, spent the time talking to Andy and Richard. There has been a crash on the M1 southbound and a diversionary route home will be needed.
I mentioned to Richard about the posters he had promised at Lichfield. He returned to the bus to fetch them and I discover the minibus is now a few hundred pounds lighter! Thanks Richard!
The tour mobile is blocking in the truck with all the sound equipment and they’re anxious to be away. Hayley manages to squeeze in a few seconds to pose for pictures before being whisked away. We wave our goodbye’s to a happy smiling Hayley “See you in Llandudno Hayley”
We hung around on the corner to wave as they pulled away, just as the Town Hall clock struck 11pm. Yes! We’ll see you in Llandudno, Hayley and Raven and Andy and Al and everyone!
God bless you all
