Roger, I am pleasantly surprised that you posted a report - i'm sure you have said to me on more than one occasion that you "tend to leave reports to others these days". I cant see why, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your report Thank you, Mark. Yes, I have said that I tend to leave reports to others these days. The reasons are that I wrote so many between 2003 and 2005 that I found I had little to say that I hadn't said many times before, and of course there were other members by then who were very willing to write reports. I felt that handing over the baton to them was preferable to dropping it completely! Nevertheless, I may throw a few words together from time to time. Roger

My thanks to all for the reports and photos from this great evening.Another set of stunning photos from Steve and Grants quick shots at the stage door were excellent especially under the circumstances that they were taken, well done with the box brownie!!
All aspects of the concert have already been covered but I would just like to say that I am very pleased with the relationship we are building up with Raven during this tour as they obviously appreciate any help we can give them to further their careers in the music industry.
Gordon
PS Thanks for the wine Grant, nice to relax after the concert.

...next time we do that I will supply the wine... That's very kind of you Steve. There will be about forty-five of us. That okay? Indeed, many thanks to Grant for his kind hospitality. It was the perfect way to round off a fantastic evening. Roger

I am very pleased with the relationship we are building up with Raven during this tour I totally agree Gordon. They are lovely, friendly girls and OK they've got to get to know us, but I think they will realise very quickly that we are their fans as well as Hayley's I hope we helped develop it a bit more tonight. Also Andy seemed very pleased to see James and I tonight. They are just an amazing group of very talented performers. Best wishes Grant

Hi Roger, Gordon and Steve Thank you for your kind comments. It was a pleasure to host the "after show" party in Newcastle. I always have a bottle of wine with me for after a show but generally I'm alone to drink it! I very much appreciated the opportunity to share it with special friends and I look forward to the next time! Best wishes Grant

Hi Folks, I know we all have different internet speed connections and photos slow it down. But the reduction in file size on some of the recent photos is really beginning to show. The words "NOT VERY FLATTERING " were used recently. I think this was mostly due to reducing the file size.. I would rather have 2 good quality pictures than 4 or six reduced quality pictures.we all use different monitors for viewing and in your monitor before posting the picture it may look fine The last few photos were under 50kb

But the reduction in file size on some of the recent photos is really beginning to show. Hi Comet I don't think any of us are deliberately reducing the file size of photo's excessively, just being more careful about not exceeding the 100kb limit. This may mean a very slight reduction in file size, but that should not reduce the viewing qality at the size they are displayed on the forum. Best wishes Grant

Sorry Paul but the 100Kb limit is a ProBoards rule and they actually recommend no more than 50Kb. Therefore, even if we limited the number of photographs, we must still not exceed the 100Kb limit.
If any of the photographs on this forum are less than perfect, I suspect it is more to do with the lighting in the auditorium and the ISO rating than with the reduction of the file size.

I would rather have 2 good quality pictures than 4 or six reduced quality pictures.we all use different monitors for viewing and in your monitor before posting the picture it may look fine The last few photos were under 50kb Hi Paul, Grant and Roger are absolutely right, getting the highest (or even good) photo quality in a "live" concert environment can be very difficult and in some lighting conditions, impossible. The easiest ones to judge quality by are the best flash photos taken after the concert, not the others. Also, several members (not sure who, but some) have new super-duper cameras that allow very high ISO ratings (I've seen 3200 and 6400 ISO mentioned!) and if left to their own devices (Auto), such cameras will often choose too high a rating to produce a "good" photo. Only time and experience will teach the photographer how to control things like that and how best to balance sharpness and other aspects of photo quality etc. I'm still learning after more than 2 years of it! We didn't pluck 100 KB out of thin air. I did extensive tests before we set that figure, based on 800 pixel wide photos (the forum maximum). If you want to see the results of two such tests, on a map and a Hayley portrait, have a look on page one of this thread here in the Technical Support board. If a member sees that at 50 KB for a particular photo, there is no obvious deterioration over the same photo at 400 KB or even 100 KB, there is no good reason I can think of to use the larger size but we leave that decision (50 KB or 100 KB) to the member concerned.
